Sampling machinery： 取樣中、製造中

逛唱片行的時候，看到這三個名字掛在一塊兒，沒想太多就買了下來。Billy Bragg 我一直沒聽其歌，但久聞其名；他的那張專輯 "Talking with the Taxman about Poetry" 光看標題就有趣的很。Wilco 不用我多說了吧？而 Woody Guthrie 更像是一個遙遠的標誌，標誌著某個一去不復返，但依舊閃耀著的期待。

"民謠" 那一掛給我的感受就是這樣的顏色：他們披著音樂的外衣，靜靜的坐在那裡，似乎毫不在意；但是你並不會把他們輕易的忘記。到了某一天，你仔細的豎起耳朵，或是上網查來了歌詞，阿阿阿，原來....
然後就瘋狂的愛上一陣子。

不久之後，歸於平靜。鎮重的把它放在CD架上，它的四周閃耀著某種金邊。哪天，如果只是為了要聽，你也不會把它拿起來放。如果車上終於要換CD了，拿起它心中還會有一陣猶豫：唉唉，高速公路上... 還是聽 Toto 唱 Rosanna 好了... 既使放了，音樂本身，也就只是一種似有若無的存在。

不過，這首歌不一樣。
也許是因為歌詞簡單？
也或許是現在的心情。


看來是演唱會偷錄，音效怎麼會這麼好啊？
這個版本不是 Billy Bragg 唱的，而只有 Wilco。他們好像很喜歡在演唱會上唱這首歌？Youtube 上一大堆，演唱會地點涵蓋美國全境，我還以為看到地理課本目錄了呢。

似有若無的存在。
這一陣子，在車上我聽不下去所有的音樂，甚至包括老楊、包括 Nick Caves。
聽了小提琴、鋼琴... 聽多了會膩。而且，我也省悟原來人的 "感情" 這東西並不神秘，他也像是任何一個東西一樣有著物理的特質。譬如說像一隻箭，在飛行飛行飛行... 之餘，不論有沒有射中什麼，勁道就是會老，箭尾拖著的彗星光芒會逐漸黯淡，接著就是一陣不耐。

人也沒什麼神秘的。就跟熱能 "熵" 的概念，或是宇宙發展的進程一模一樣：所有的事物，包括你的情緒、你的體悟、你的成長、你的幻滅、你的追尋跟你的答案... 最後都會歸往一個永恆不變的方向。
我們不斷的在趨近它。
這道理並不深奧。我不知道為什麼，就是一陣他媽的不耐煩。

但是在這樣一陣的不耐當中，轉到這張CD (還記得我以前都當它是空氣一般，似有若無的存在嗎？)
California Stars 的前奏一出來，我突然就覺得：啊，原來....
於是，就像是一切都無所謂了。



要不要去加州 (對紐約人來說，似乎像花蓮之於台北？好久沒去七星潭了呢) 不是重點，不要誤會了！
當然我想去度假是真的，但是，我無時無刻不這樣想；所以，要不要休息也不是重點。要不要把那部1947年的電影翻出來看，開心一番，也都無所謂。

Wilco 的編曲、Billy Bragg 沉著的聲音、Woody Guthrie 的歌就是給你這種感覺。如果是 Beach Boys 寫的，同樣的歌詞，那就很無聊了。正因為這是他寫的，反而更是給我這種感覺；我甚至可以想像他當時在想著的...



我們很認真很認真的看著，但是，也都沒什麼關係。
即使無所謂， 我依然會這麼認真的凝視著你。

而且，不論歸於什麼碗糕，我就會，也只會一直這樣做下去....
