Mark Knopfler 很會說 ”人” 的故事。
我在危機百科上看到有個叫 Bill Wilson的人聲稱歌詞是他跟Mark Knopfler 一起寫的。不過，除了這首歌以外，Mark Knopfler 後來像 Heavy Fuel、Money for Nothing 也都延續了他說故事的風格。

我很喜歡這樣的感覺：像是看阿城的小說，或是小津的電影。遠遠的… 嗯，或著，近近的也可以啦…. ，不過，一定是靜靜的、靜靜的看著。而且，要很小心很小心，不然就容易氾濫。譬如像悲情城市那樣叫做時空氾濫，像蔡明亮那樣叫做感應氾濫。

當然，他說故事還是沒有上面幾位高竿啦… (差遠了，差遠了)，不過，那種味道是很像的。危機百科上形容 Dire Straits 的歌詞是 "Dylansque像狄倫一樣的”。
嗯，(舉手) 老師，我不同意。

為什麼我不喜歡流行歌曲？我想可能是因為我一直都是 (現在也是) 把聽 ”一個人” 放在聽 ”一個音樂” 之前。這跟師奶追逐Rain或部落格上看到女生為了龍澤秀明去京都3天兩夜旋風之行本質上是一樣的事情，各位，不要不承認了。
不過，我還蠻喜歡這樣的。
我很敬佩那位女生。我希望我可以有那種熱情和行動力。

所以，在流行樂的場域之下，音樂人有很高的機會做出一堆蠢歌，掩蓋了他令人景仰的那一塊地方。不過，如果你也曾經寫文章、寫歌、寫信給老婆、甚至只是籌劃過兩人浪漫之旅好了，你一定會知道這種心情：過了幾天，回頭一看，天啊！！這是什麼碗糕啊？！

Dire Straits 就是這樣令人又愛又恨啊。同樣的例子也包括 Prince，也包括 Eagles，包括Beatles，包括… 應該是所有你想得到的音樂人吧？

我還是得提一下Romeo and Juliet：真是夠了。Brothers in Arms這首歌讓人欲哭無淚，Telegraph Road… 是要玩前衛了嗎？那就… 再聯絡吧。
人年紀漸長、聲譽卓著之餘，大戒果然在於切勿急於全盤托出，滔滔江水，一發不可收拾。

什麼？這當然是我的偏見啊。如果這不是偏見，那什麼才是呢？
可是，我可是很認真很認真的在描述我的偏見呢。

譬如 “Brothers in Arms” 這張專輯裡面我最喜歡的是 ”Walks of Life” 和 “So Far Away”。是的，他又迴旋了，這次不是solo 而是整首歌的riff，好聽極了。
“Tunnel of Love” 這首歌跟”Romeo and Juliet”一樣噁爛，但是他最後的solo 真是美麗，值得為它熬過前面主副歌的愛情八點檔。在這張專輯裡面，”Les Boys” 反而有趣的多。

就像老楊聽一聽，我越來越體會如 M 說的，最好聽的是那首 “Music Arcade”。

很多人的第一張專輯都值得仔細一聽，也譬如伍佰的 ”愛上別人是件快樂的事”。
所以，還是回到Sultans of Swing吧。不論一個人做了多少爛歌，只要有這樣的一首歌，就值得我輩頂禮膜拜。
再說一次，千萬不要看不起流行音樂啊。

放歌詞是為了邀請大家再聽一次這首歌。
曾經有網友教我如何把音樂檔連結上來。我想了一想還是算了；依我的個性，我絕對會不知不覺的懶惰起來，不再認真的去思索，從而萎縮我的文字大腦。

在腦海裡放音樂吧。我相信你也可以的。這樣很好玩喔。
