The Folk Introduction--
有的人要聽heavy metal(重金屬)或是Industrial noise(工業噪音?)
-pop、electronica、grunge、Industrial-noise、classical、gothic、post-rock、kraut-rock
Simon & Garfunkel
Bridge Over
Troubled Water" 、"Sounds Of Silence"、 "Mrs Robinson", 無一不是膾炙人口的歌曲?!
Paul Simon

To listen to that much music, I don't know, either a mad man or a Typhoeus (a fire breathing dragon with a hundred heads that never rest - Greek mythology)
I found myself keep going back to Joni Mitchell, too. It was 'Night Ride Home' awhile ago. Recently, it is the rediscovered 'Blue'. Plus, 'Court and Spark' is one of my all-time favorite albums.
I can't believe one important fact in R'nR history about her was mistated here. I have to make a stand because, as you know, those don't learn from history and doomed to repeat it. It was well documented that Joni never made it to Woodstock in 1969. She only watched it on TV and wrote 'Woodstock', the song. Not that she didn't get invited, she simply chose to appear on a TV talk show instead. To be on national TV or a concert out in a pasture, an easy decision, right? right. Who would know it would later become one of her regrets in life. If not anything else, at least we should learn - don't skip a concert for anything, ANYTHING. Cause, as history has taught us, you just might regret it for the rest of your life.

ha,
I think I might live in between, betwen what you said a mad man or a Typhoeus. Kind of mad but somehow I also will take some rest --- like recently~
Thanks for your correction, though I may not re-edit it since it's my old article 6 years ago, during that time the internet is still not so popular, all I can relied on are only magazines. But still appreciate it and in the future (if possible my dream is to publish a book) I will try to add more materials and correct them~
Joni is important though, but young people still try to capture the new stuff rather than old memorable things. I don't know, all I can do may be is just keep on writing and introducing more and let everbody compared by themselves.
I also don't want to miss any concerts, but
I live in St. Louis, haha!
a kind of live performance desert.

Picture this, with an ipod attached to each of the one hundred heads and playing all kinds of groovy music, the beast is having the time of its life. hmmm... maybe Apple can use a new idea in their ad campaign.
If it was not obvious, I was only joking when I wrote "I can't believe an important ..." For someone write as much as you do, it is totally understandable slips like this could happen. In contrast, I seldom make mistakes, since I hardly write anything :) Don't let people like me slow you
down.
I was captivated when I first saw Ron Sexsmith on TV, great voice and with a understated yet heartfelt delivery. His first album has nice moments, but as a whole I thought the sonwriting was flat. Reminded me a lot of Jackson Browne, only needs better songs. I don't know about his later work.
As to the new vs. the old, I think you've got the right attitude. R'nR really hasn't changed all that much in the last 40 years in my eye. New talents and new trends won't stop coming, but music is music.
Regardless of what I said, I haven't been to that many shows myself. Frequent concert going is not compatible with normal family life. Next date up for me will be seeing Pearl Jam/Sonic Youth in action, indoors. Can't wait for the sonic attack, of course, with earplugs within easy reach.

haha, everytime when I read your replying I always smile!
It's amazing that you also have a kind of "black humor!"
I hope I don't get it wrong, but it's really nice to make friends with a guy like you~
I will try to write more if I have time, recently I am kind of totally blown away by the overwhelmed material regarding bar exam.
Regarding Ron SexSmith, you're right! His first album in my opinion is his best and later albums are not so beautiful and pure like his first one. He will have a new album coming out this month, I don't know how it sounds like but anyway I may kind of guy who really love folk music.
I really envy you that you can go to Pearl Jam's concert!
I bet it's must be raw and full of passion, hope you have a nice memory of the concert.

Don't encourage me. You may regret it. The way I see it, if we can't make a point when we write, at least try to make someone chuckle. It would be wonderful, though, if both can be packaged together.
Talking about a concert that is raw and full of passion, this article I read yesterday reminded me the amazing experience I had when I first played this LP way back when. It is 'Live At Leeds' by the Who that showed me what rock music could deliver when it was done right. I really don't expect Pearl Jam to reach that level. But, go ahead, surprise me.

I never regret anything except for studying law! ha~
Live at Leeds is amazing! That is true! It's a pitty that they don't have a dvd version or I definitely will buy it~
Speaking of the Who, they are currently working on the new album and the first single in my memory will be a 20 minutes longer epic! I can't wait how Pete will compose it and how Keith back to the young dude again.
Here is a studio performance I just dig these days and this website is good for the guy like you and me who all love old stuffs.

As for Pearl Jam, actually their new album I am a little bit disapointed, I love their first three albums and the way how Eddie Vedder sings the song. But I still think their concert is worth going. For St. Louis? Forget it!

Trisha Yearwood、Tracy Chapman、Emmylou Harris、Carry & Ron、、

Hey

to 吐司,

馬瓜;

Nick Drake --

Janis Ian
Janis Ian

Janis Ian

Billie's Bones"
Billie Holiday,

Heart and Bones
Linda Perry
Water Boys

50 Ways or You Can Call me
Water Boys
