The translator of Remains of Life-Michael Berry
Michael Berry is an assistant professor of contemporary Chinese cultural studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where his research currently focuses on literary and cinematic representations of violence in modern China. He is the author Speaking in Images: Interviews with Contemporary Chinese Filmmakers (Columbia University Press, 2005) and the translator of To Live by Yu Hua (Anchor, 2003), Nanjing 1937: A Love Story (Columbia University Press 2002, Faber & Faber 2003, Anchor, 2004), and Wild Kids: Two Novels about Growing Up by Chang Ta-chun (Columbia University Press, 2000).
