47歲的蘇珊一身鄉土味，以世俗眼光看這位大嬸實在很不起眼。但當她開口唱出舞台劇「悲慘世界」的名曲「I dreamed a dream」，全場只能用歡聲雷動、從頭尖叫鼓掌到尾來形容。許多電視機前面的婦女同胞們，還不斷打電話進電視台，說自己邊看邊哭了呢！其中也包括好萊塢大明星黛咪摩爾，她說本來是被老公艾希頓庫奇強迫看，但當一聽見蘇珊的歌聲之後，眼淚就一滴一滴不能自己地流下來。
