紐約之最 - 帝國大廈

上一篇放了從帝國大廈 86 樓觀景台看出去的夜景, 想想也該介紹一下帝國大廈. 自從世貿雙塔被炸掉後, 帝國大廈現在又成為曼哈頓裡面最高的建築物了. 帝國大廈位在曼哈頓中城 (34 街), 距離附近的車站, 商圈都很近.


帝國大廈是在 1931 年 5 月 1 日正式開始使用, 利用 1 年又 45 天之內建蓋完成的, 佔地約 2.66 英畝, 當初建築的時候, 一天可利用到約 4000 個人力. 裡面一共有 73 台快速電梯, 電梯一分鐘可以跑大約 1400 英尺 (約 427 公尺). 這也難怪為什麼那天晚上搭電梯上觀景台的時候, 我的耳朵會有 ear block.

跟帝國大廈有關的電影很多, 最近大概就屬 "金剛 King Kong" 最出風頭. 1933 年的電影最近重拍, 造成炫風, 那天晚上在帝國大廈裡面, 我還真的看到了金剛, 正要悄悄地從金剛背後穿過去, 居然就被金剛發現, 金剛抓著我的肩膀, 差點就把我抓走了! 呵呵!

另外有名的電影, 還有早期的 "Love Affair 金玉盟 (1939)" (後來在 1957 和 1994 年分別重拍), "Sleepless in Seattle 西雅圖夜未眠 (1993)".

帝國大廈的金剛都不理我耶... 想想電影中的金鋼只對美女有興趣, 也算是忠於原著

應該不是耳鳴吧? 應該是 ear block. 因為耳朵就像是被封住了一樣,
內外壓力不一樣, 要把嘴巴打開打哈欠. 就像是飛機起飛的時候那樣子.

We feel ears blocked or our ears pop when we fly on airplane, because our middle ear causes the problem: there is an air pocket inside the head that is vulnerable to changes in air pressure.
Normally, each time (or each second or third time) you swallow, your ears make a little click or popping sound. This occurs because a small bubble of air has entered your middle ear, up from the back of your nose. It passes through the Eustachian tube, a membrane-lined tube about the size of a pencil lead that connects the back of the nose with the middle ear. The air in the middle ear is constantly being absorbed by its membranous lining and resupplied through the Eustachian tube. In this manner, air pressure on both sides of the eardrum stays about equal. If and when the air pressure is not equal, the ear feels blocked.

咦，我以為《金玉盟》是《An Affair to Remember》說，
這是《Sleepless in Seattle》裡提到的那一部。

阿秀,
我去 Google 了一下, 是電影 "Love Affair" 沒錯. 因為 "Love Affair" 是 original, 1939 年拍的.
不過阿秀說的也沒錯, "An Affair to Remember" 是在 1957 年把 Love Affair 重拍, 由帥哥 Cary Grant 和 "國王與我 (電影版)" 的 Deborah Kerr 飾演.
1994 年, 老帥哥 Warren Beatty 和他老婆 Annette Bening 連同美麗獨立堅強的 Katharine Hepburn 再度詮釋.
一般提到的, 是阿秀說的 "An Affair to Remember".

看了《Sleepless in Seattle》之後，
跟著看了裡面提到的《An Affair to Remember》和《The Dirty Dozen》，
發現老片的節奏真是慢啊，
愛情片的《An Affair to Remember》還沒問題，
動作片的《The Dirty Dozen》就是怎麼看怎麼怪˙˙˙
