Sun 準備推出一種產品 --- "Data Center In A Box". 基本上他們可以根據客戶需求來在組合妳公司的"電腦中心". 一個20呎的"貨櫃"裡面可裝(多達)250部電腦,資料庫,線路,空調,等等... 他們將DS configure 完成, 然後將貨櫃拖到妳的公司門外, that's it, done!

Sun 並且宣稱"Data Center In A Box"比一般DS的空間利用率好500%, 用電效率則好10-15%. 加上它是"機動"的, 企業大可將其Data Center放在電費較便宜的州/地方. 在今天這個對計算需求越來越高的時代, 誰能找到低耗電成本的地方, 誰就比競爭對手多了一個edge.

中國人的天下為公是講假的,中國人傳家, 藏私, 地域本位, 怕事, 等等. 畢竟"sharing"對一個overpopulated,弱肉強食的社會是遙不可及的. 西方社會有一些傳統反而比較接近這個概念, 譬如說社會福利政策, 家中一子獻給神/社會/國家(去當教士,消防隊員,警察, 軍人, etc...), 還有當紅的 Open Source Movement

What is speed reading?



Reading with speed. 'Nuf said. Actually, the idea behind speed reading is that we can process information much faster than we actually do in real life with a book in our hands. Several factors affect our reading speed, like subvocalization (the little voice inside our heads that reads along with us and slows us down), backtracing (rereading parts over and over again), etc.

The purpose behind apps like these is to train our minds to get rid of all the other crap. So, by having a steady input of text, we erase our dependency on backtracing. By increasing the reading speed, subvocalization can't keep up and eventually goes away.
