trip schedule

First of all, Happy Father's Day to all fathers, especail my papa. And also Happy lover's day to Mark, although I am not with you now. We will soon to meet in Sanfansico.

Tomorrow I will take bus at 14:00 leaving Cusco to Nazca. I will arrive at around am 04:00 in Nazco. The only reason is the bus ticket is to Lima. So I have to pay the full money and drop out in the middle way also middle night. How sad! Because I determined to take a helicopter to oversee the Nazco line, I spend the whole morning in the travel agency to get a letter, not a certain ticket which cost me 75 dollar, including the transfer and a flight at noone knows the time. God bless me! Than I went to the airplane agency to book the fly ticket from Lima to Iquitos at 12th Aug and back at 15th than directly fly to U.S. It is said I will sleep at but tomorrow 8th and visit Nazco line at 9th morning. Hoply I can get a bus from Nazca to Paracas the same day. And stay at Paracas 9th night and take a boat to the near island at 10th. Then take a bus to Lima stay for 2 nights. Then fly to Iquitos. This is my plan. Although no bady can guarantee anything. It is not a scheduled trip from the beginning. Anyway I will try to catch the fly in Lima, saty in lodge in Amazon and finish this trip in Peru. I felt hungry all the day (I ate three meals as usual), so I am getting healther now. Don't worry!

Cusco

I had the most terrible two days in my life in Lake Titicaca. No one tell me the homestay in the island is on the hill, hell for me. That is to say I stay at height 4300meter. I vomited anything I eat and got a high temperature. In the night, I began to shake uncontrolled. It take three hours boat to Puno and a hour road to the near city where is a hospital. Everyone knows that the altitute sick is fetal, but nobody cares here. I took the bill to lose the blood pressure and survive for two days without food.

I felt so lucky to come to Cusco in 8/2 and stayed with hippys(spelling?) who smoked (not cigarrate) and stayed around the fire at night. The next day, we went to Pisac sunday market together. At last, a perurian law unversity stuend went out with me to those Inca ruins. He is such a nice person and translate a lot for me. We had a great day, except climbing three mountain. At last, I fell down from the bus stair. I am fine, my camera backbag saved me. But I found that the botton of my shop is flated totally after one month walking. It is a goretex trekking boot!

8/4 I tried to change the hotel and catched the am6:00 train to Machu Picchu. And I cannot find my passport in such early morning. I ran from these two hotels and woke up all the reciept. At last, I got the passport, they were locked in my biger backbag. Then I met a creay London boy on the train. He thinks ¨poor perurian¨ all the time. After an hour terrible talking, I cannot stand anymore. So he began to argu with the service in the train. The poorer Señora talked to him, his guide will pick him up directly in front of the door of our coach. But it didn´t work. I met a lot of terrible person in Aguas Calientes, where is the stop for Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is a treasure itself. So you see from the movie that every bad guy rush and do any bad thing to get the treasure. Right, It is just like that. Everyone tried to cut the line. People ran to pass you for the two hundren tickets to Wayni Picchu to have a better view for Machu picchu. The only thing not like the action movie is the justice never comes. That is why we need the actoin movie. After the Machu Picchu, I went to Ollantaytambo for sightseeing. Than I found I have nothing to back to Cusco. The taxi driver asked for 70 sol which cost more than one night in hotel. I waited in a colletive bus for two hours to back cusco. There is a small town. Everyone joined the travel group. I cannot sure whether the collective is reliable. How terrible! Last night, I tried to vomit but nothing came out. I went to bad at 9pm and cannot do anying. The strong headace killed, not the altitute this time, but seriously tired. I will stay in hotle in Cusco for two days and take a bus 8/8 to Nazco. I will try to find travel agency to arrange the trip. Travel in Peru is not that pleased to be honest.

Puno

I am in Puno now. Here is much better than I expect. Although it is a small town wothout preperly medical care. But it do have hot water. I live in a single room with private bath. I feel I am more like a tourist than a backpack in Peru. But I am sicked with the shared room where I stayed for the four nights in Arequipa. Last afternoon, I am the only stay in my room. So I had a hot water shower and went back the room just with a small tower. Then I met my new roommate, Angel from Norway. She is a little bit crazy for me. You know. She have back problem and still try all the technical equipments to assist to carry the heavy package. So I am the magic girl travel with 35 liter, she telled to the other two girls in the room. Magic girl is not that magic anymore. I bought a new 45liter cheap chinere made backpack last night. The only reason is the new bag can hlod the sleeping bag outside. So I get not only 10 liter but 25liter more properly. It is good for me because I will take two days trip in the Lake Titicaca and the new one for locker in the hostle, the original one I can take for two days trip. It would be very useful even in Muchipichi.

The most important thing to tell is I survive from the altitude problem this time. Puno is 3800m above sea level. I always have big problem with high altitude, last I did the mountain-climbing in Taiwan, you remebered? And also in desert Atacama, San Pedro is just 2600m height. I vomited that night I arrived. In this trip I vomited so often that I am good in it now. I can do it just in time and don´t leave the bad small in the nose because the place maynot have water, like San Pedro. Last night, Angel gave me helf bag of Coca leaves. I was supposed to chew them when I was in the bus. Unfortunately, I locked them in my backpack again. I do carry the medical bill with me in my coat pocket in case of emergency. After taking off the bus, a man began bleeding from the nose. I am so careful even didn´t walk in normal speed. I carried the new bag which designed so badly that you feel much heavy than it should be to the hostel. I breath heavily. The senolita asked ¨are you very tired?¨. I guess I look terrible. I joined a tour group to have two days stay in the Lake Titicaca. Here you just can join the group tour. It is difficult to rent the boat and contact the local family for homestay. Idon´t like arranged tour but this is how they do in Peru. Too many tourists. I ate a late lunch and met a british travel group around 20 persons. It is weird the first time to meet British travel in this style.

I was mad because the last internet just cut me out. After typing so much words. I leave unhappily and find this cheaper one and can use skype. I had better to send the article first.

my lucky sign

Because of travelling alone, I rely on the sign for lucky. Those days in New York, lucky things happened everyday. The last day in New York, I got a Chilian Peso on the hostel ground. It is special because no Chilian live here for at last a week. Good sigh, again. Now my orange hat become a good sigh to bring me luck, at least keep me warm. The point is I refind my hat. How wonderful it is! I went horse-riding today. It is so tired that I took a nap in the afternoon. The temperture is high, so I don´t use the sleeping bag. Instead, I open the sheets and blanket. My hat is buried in it. They cleaned the room and redoed the bed. Woo! Ya! I got a cold in the desert Atacama. Now the situation got worser from yesterday. This good sigh means I will recover soon. Thanks for everyone. Today I find the local Chifa which should means ¨Chino Food¨, (I guess). I had the chicken noodle soup tonight! How great for a hot soup! I take a photo of the menu and I will find out what else are. The only pity thing today is when you ride a horse, You cannot take good photo. It is a sunny day. I can see all the three volcanos behind Arequipa. The view is gorgeous and the horse is nice to me. I have a great day.

Arequipa

I am in Arequipa now. The second city in Peru. Also called ¨the white city¨ because of the color of their houses and there are the most spanish people live here in the conlonize era in peru. The building is so amazing. Last night I been here and don´t want to leave anymore. I haven´t lived in a place the tempeture is over 10 in the night for such a long time. I missed the fevor of summer. This morning I booked a two days trip trekking to the other small vilage and the bus to puno on 30th. Everything just goes so well that I went to the main museums today in a rush. When I back to the hostle, the bad news comes. There are no place for the trekking trip and the bus ticket have pursued already. So now I have two free days here and nothing to do. The worse thing is I lose the hat (the one in the photo) and gloves. I can buy a new one here but the meaning is different. I live with a teenage British couple. No one want to stay in the shared room but the city is so crowded for the tourists from all the world that finding a room is so difficult. I will try the horse-riding tomorrow and the tourbus to nearby countryside the day after tomorrow. Anyway, I have to cheered up myself. A little bit too depressed!

desert

I just take a shower in the desert. Of course in a hurry. Last afternoon, I joined the moon valley group for the sunset. It is great, the purple, the fog and even the sound of the rock. Yes, they speak. I met two American girls who teach English in Satiago now. We went out for Ashley´s birthday. What a coinsident! The other coinsident is the church here had a celebration last night. The Indians dress up for dancing and music. That is incrediable. However, it happened at night and it is so dark. I cannot take good picture. How pity! These two night is the only nights I cannot sleep well. Because of the tempeture and the noise. I change the place that I don´t use my sleeping bag. Tonight, I will sleep on the bus. I may choose to stay one more night in Arica, a beach, in Chile. Everyone tells me that Peru is so dangerous that I think I should slow down. And also I become smelly, I need a nice place to clean the clothes, boots and so on. I haven´t decided it. Anyhow I would like to enter Peru to eat teaster food.
