Nick Nickell, Dick Freeman, Bob Hamman, Paul Soloway, Jeff Meckstroth and Eric Rodwell have won the 2007 United States Bridge Championship and will be USA2 in the 2007 Bermuda Bowl in Shanghai this October. Last year's winners, George Jacobs, Ralph Katz, Steve Garner, Howard Weinstein, Michael Rosenberg and Zia Mahmood will be USA1 this fall. Good luck to both of our great representatives!

NORTH AMERICAN JUNIORS STAR IN SOUTH AMERICA, WINNING PAIRS AND TEAMS
Five Juniors from the United States and Canada accepted the invitation of the Equador Bridge Federation to participate in the South American Junior Championships in Quito this week. Jason Feldman and Ari Greenberg started the tournament off well by winning the Open Pairs Championship. Jason Feldman, Ari Greenberg, Mike Develin and John Barth from the United States and Erin Anderson from Canada were on top of the leader board after the Round Robin in the Junior Championship in Quito. Friday, the North American team won its semi-final match against Argentina B, and Saturday they defeated Argentina A to win the event. CONGRATULATIONS!

The Quinn team defeated the Sulgrove Team in Playoff 2, to win the right to represent the United States in the Venice Cup in Shanghai. Congratulations to Shawn Quinn, Sue Picus, Disa Eythosdottir and Rozanne Pollack.

The Narasimhan team (Hansa Narasimhan, Irina Levitina, Jill Levin, Jill Meyers, Debbie Rosenberg and JoAnna Stansby, defeated Sulgrove 218 - 129 to become the 2007 United States Women's Bridge Champions, and USA1 for the Venice Cup in Shanghai this fall. CONGRATULATIONS!

The USWBC Reserve Champion Sulgrove team played extremely well through the entire event, finishing second in the Round Robin and defeating Baker in the Semi-finals, before losing to Narasimhan and Quinn in the finals and Playoff 2. They make us wish we could send three teams to China.
