In her work she combines physical with visual theatre. She has been nominated twice for the Anjerfonds Prize: for her solo Maanduisternis (Lunar Eclipse) and the location project《 Fell Out Of The Picture》
The production 《Silk》 (2001) was the first evening filling piece under the name Ulrike Quade. Silk is based on the book “Silk” of Alessandro Barrico. In that production Ulrike Quade worked together with Eduardo de Paiva Souza. After Silk Eduardo joined the company for the next two pieces. These shows were released under the name Quade & Paiva.

Under the name Quade & Paiva, she made the successful performances 《Dead Orange Walk》 – based on the diary of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.《Dead Orange Walk》 was distinguished as the most remarkable and innovative performance of the New Theatre Makers Series of the 2003/04 season. 《Two Old Ladies》 – based on the collection of stories with the same name by Toon Tellegen. The performance is to be found on the list of the TOP 100 of Dutch performances of the year 2004. In 2004《 Nude Volume / Angel》 is presented as the third and final production under the name Quade & Paiva. Nude Volume (Ulrike Quade) and Angel (Eduardo de Paiva Souza) are two solo’s directed by choreographer and writer Paul Selwyn Norton. The connecting link of these two performances are the puppets ‘nude’ and ‘angel’ created by Ulrike Quade and the double bill Nude Volume/Angel.

Since 2004-2005 Ulrike Quade organized a monthly series of meetings in collaboration with Eliane Attinger in the Ostadetheater in Amsterdam. The “Ontmoetingen” is a platform for artists of different disciplines who want to research visual theatre and who want to work with Quade’s puppets. Several dancers from professional Dutch Companies are joining the project to discover physical ways of puppeteering. The research will lead towards a production (2007). The project is invited for a residency at MASSMoCA (Massaschussetts Museum of Modern Art) in 2007.

Ulrike Quade was the first Dutch director to be awarded a Directors Lab Stipendium by New York’s Lincoln Center in 2004.
