Welcome to Tainan International Community Church which is an independent fellowship meeting in Tainan, Taiwan.

On Sunday March 3^rd members of the church were invited to a meal after church at Dr. Augustine Musopole’s apartment in Tainan Theological College and Seminary.  He had shared preparation of the food with Sunshine, one of the college’s international students, who comes from South Korea.

So we were treated to a wonderful mixture of Korean vegetarian and Malawian dishes.  Some baulked at the prospect but others relished the opportunity to eat again with out fingers as we tucked into a big bowl of nshima.   Nshima is a thick porridge made with maize or ‘mealie’ meal.  Those unaccustomed to eating in the African style were taught how to take a piece of the porridge, knead in the hand and, with the thumb, shape it into a spoon with which to eat the vegetables and meats in their various sauces.

For her part Sunshine gave us samples of her precious store of three different kimchis.  We learned that it can be made from various other vegetables in addition to cabbage but still with the same spicy zap hitting the back of the throat!
