350D加上兩支L鏡，狠下心敗下去了！
假日一天到晚在家上線的壞處就是，塵封在心底深處的邪惡慾望很容易被許多勸敗的文章、網站、與損友給挑起。
今天下午我做了一個重大的決定，買了350D以及17-40/4L跟300/4L IS兩支L鏡。東西由於聖誕節的關係，可能要幾個禮拜後才會收到，先貼一下網路上找到的照片給大家看我到底敗了什麼。
350D是在Dell買的，連折扣以及＄45off的Coupon，Rebate前買 $764.10、不用稅、Free Shipping。Tripple Rebate 後減掉$225塊，剩下$539.1。
17-40/4L也是在Dell買的，連折扣以及＄45off的Coupon，Rebate前買 $634.15、不用稅、Free Shipping。Tripple Rebate 後減掉$75塊，剩下$559.15。
300/4L IS是萬惡的起源，昨天去賞鳥之後塵封在心裡的戀砲慾又被挑起，做了一夜的Research，發現這隻鏡頭是野外攝影最好的入門鏡，加上影像穩定裝置配合350D高ISO低雜訊的表現，實用性大為提高，更有人說有了這隻鏡頭後，根本沒有需要買價格貴四倍，重量重兩倍的300/2.8L，這隻鏡頭，可以囊括野外攝影與運動攝影這兩個領域，以後可以拍攝的題材又更廣了。
這隻鏡頭Dell沒有賣，我是在Beachcamera買的，Rebate前連運費要$1118.95，Tripple Rebate後減$135塊，變成$983.95。
17-40/4L與300/4L IS都是為全幅機設計的鏡頭，一兩年後要是全幅機價格普及化，這兩支鏡頭不但可以繼續用，而且用途還更廣，這兩支L鏡加上我原本的28-80/2.8-4L，算是我自己的三元鏡。

野外生態攝影應該受地點的影響比較大
有些地方300mm也許會不夠
運動攝影的話可以有一定的滿足了

300mm用在350D上，等效焦聚等於480mm，夠不夠老實說看場所，很多專們在拍鳥的，可能還會在加個1.4倍鏡。
另外可能跟拍攝風格也有關，如果專們要拍鳥的特寫，那300mm的確不太夠，但是我比較想拍的是鳥與周圍環境互動的照片，300mm應該還好，我的望遠鏡也只有七倍放大，由望遠鏡中就可以看到很多Camera Chance。

After reading your experiences, I am thinking about buying a new SLR digital camera as well. (Currently mine is a Minolta 7i which I bought 3 years ago in the U.S. It is aging and has a lot of problems).
1. How do I get the discount code/ coupon that enabled you to rebate three times as much? Plus all S+H waived, etc.? Where do I get it?
2. Any tip finding out a good store that has digital SLRs (less than $1,000 with a zoom lense ranging 20mm-200 or 300)?

I went to the game site and tried it. It appeared that there are two games underneath it---in the first one, you have to choose among three socks. The second was that you move a little man to catch the falling things from the sky. I trid both, but I ended up with nothing since there was nothing sent into my e-mail address. A bit confused....which was the one that really gave you some goodies? Thanks

Thus, I managed to cool down a little bit if I should splurge immediately. I think I need to do some more research on which one to buy, such as choosing in between Nikon or Canon. Of course, both are fantastic brands.
It appears that I need more justifications before I jump. So, it would be very helpful to know your decision-making process -----it would be very enlightening.
1. You have invested a lot in buying a main camera body while all future purchases, will be simply on lenses associated with this Canon body. How did you come up with the decision to go with Canon? How does Nikon live up with Canon concerning your needs and expectations?
2. Plus, as you said "一兩年後要是全幅機價格普及" , would that suggest me to wait one year or half (at least past mid-2006) before I can enjoy a cheaper price since it is very likely to drop significantly then because the cost is somewhat an issue for me?
3. My current Minolta 7i is way too large to carry around. The bulkiness also throws a big wet blanket on my frequent use of a camera as well.
I know technically it is impossible to have a handy SLR that can still live up with high-end lines, but at least the camera makers should make some efforts in reducing the size of the camera body. I have long been a Canon user since film camera era. To me Canon has better approach for autofocus than Nikon and that is very important for wild life photography.
In addition, Canon's CMOS sensor has less noise compared to Nikon's sensor which is manufactured by Sony.
Should you wait for 2 more years for full frame digital camera? It depends. But I can tell you for sure that the digital technology will always be better and cheaper. Unless you want to keep waiting, at some point you just have to jump in and buy it. When is that point? Only you can answer that question.
That being said, I always encourage people to do as much research as possible before buying anything. After all, the fun of looking for the perfect camera is a very important part of this hobby. You should enjoy it, not rush it.
350D is one of the smallest DSLR available. I,too am waiting for a high quality compact digital camera with large size sensor. Before that camera becomes available, Fuji F10 is a very interesting alternative with good image quality and exceptional low noise at high ISO. Maybe you can buy F10 first while you are waiting for a cheaper and better DSLR.

Dear Michael,
1. 18-55 is a very good starter lense. There are lots of wonderful pictures taken by this lense. In addtion, it is the cheapest way to cover your wide end. In fact, I am thinking about getting one myself.
2. The lense won't give you double rebate. Only items listed on the rebate form will.
3. You don't need to buy everything from the same vendor. In fact, I bought mine from 2 different vendors and the rebate is already pre-approved.

1. 18-55 is a very good starter lense. There are lots of wonderful pictures taken by this lense. In addtion, it is the cheapest way to cover your wide end. In fact, I am thinking about getting one myself.
2. The lense won't give you double rebate. Only items listed on the rebate form will.
3. You don't need to buy everything from the same vendor. In fact, I bought mine from 2 different vendors and the rebate is already pre-approved.

Dear Michael,
For 350D, the effective focal length factor is 1.6. That means the standard prime with 50mm focal length, if used on 350D, the effective focal length will become 80mm (50x1.6).
So, 35mm equivelent 20-200mm zoom lense should have specification of 12-125mm. As far as I know, there is no such lense.
For photography equipment, I always check beachcamera.com before buying. I bought Fuji F10 and EF 300/4L from them and they appear to be cheap and reliable.

我印象里，可以买施华洛士其/SWAROVSKI或是徕卡/Leica的望远镜加转接口接在数码相机上用。望远镜该只要1万左右的人民币。
