Watching out the English

在還沒有抵達英國時，曾想像過來倫敦的生活：離群索居、寒窗苦讀。生活應該像素描一樣清淡，用規律做筆，勾勒出每一天的線條。


想不到，因為認識了一群很好的朋友，我在倫敦的生活變成了五彩繽紛的粉彩畫。


生活依然充滿了灰直角，但卻因為有了朋友，直角與直角中間，不再只能碰撞或瑟縮，而讓我找到了一個暈滿了粉色彩的角落。我們一起喝酒、一起看戲、一起旅行、一起打牙祭；我們一起讀書、一起準備考試、一起寫論文；我們一起過聖誕節、一起過新年、一起在中秋節包餃子與賞月亮；但我們，終究是不能這樣一直一起下去，時候到了，有人要回台灣、有人要留在英國，有人要找工作、有人要再繼續唸書，有人要去埃及，有人還在趕論文。因為珍惜這樣的一起，所以我們用一次畢業旅行，一起替這些一起劃下了一個一起的句點：我們要從westerminister坐船到kew garden，進行為期一天的"畢業旅行"。


那一天天氣出奇的好，好到會讓人覺得在這樣的倫敦活著是一種莫大的幸福。坐船坐了一個半小時來到Kew，沿途經過了一座座match point中會看到的高級住宅，沿岸許多人在划canoe，漸漸的，就有遠離倫敦來到另一個世界的感覺。




Kew Garden的確有皇家園林的氣派，走在裡面頗為開闊舒服，好像自然都被馴服了，也沾染一股皇家的精緻。走進的第一個溫室溫度高濕度也高，就讓我們感覺到了台灣，看到了只在生物課本上看到的肉食植物豬籠草，不禁嘖嘖稱奇。只是台灣來的我們卻不在適應台灣的氣候，晃了一下就覺得熱的受不了，大家便為了冷卻空氣而快速逃竄出來。外面的陽光草地更吸引人，玫瑰花叢邊就地躺下，慵懶的隨意說笑，有人則拼命捕捉這種一字躺開的鏡頭。





Kew的草皮上散落著木頭椅子。一個個的木頭椅子上都鑲著一塊小銅牌，這面寫著"XXX生前在這裡享受了很多美好的時光，她的丈夫或女兒或妻子捐了這個椅子以資紀念"。在陽光下，我覺得想出這樣的點子簡直是太天才。我雖然不認識椅子上寫的那個人，可能只有很少很少走在花園中的人認識，但因為我來到了kew，我在這裡漫步，我在椅子上坐下來看看天空，我跟朋友嘻笑，我感受到了陽光綠樹藍天美麗的花及寧靜，也享受美好的時光，因此，我突然跟一個素昧平生的人就這樣有了同樣的心情，而覺得親切起來。一把椅子，就這樣收藏了一個人的喜悅，還有什麼比這更好的紀念方式嗎？


晚上，到four season吃有名的燒鴨。由於感冒還沒有好全，在地鐵上頭痛欲裂，等到幾口飯菜下肚，便快快吞了藥，才漸漸感受到飯菜的好吃。其中，釀豆腐堡真是讓人驚豔。出餐廳後剛好遇到一年一度Notting Hill的Carnival散場，大批衣著鮮豔尚在興奮中的人群與我們擦肩而過，大型貨車載著節奏強烈的音響開過。去年，我們到倫敦的第一天，8月29日，也正逢這個carnival登場。

我們在Paddinton的starbucks喝了一杯咖啡，是最後一次這樣一起在倫敦喝咖啡了吧。大家分別講了一些感言，有一種強烈的結束感，與卡住的沈重。不知道那Banana Caramel cream frappuccino的滋味，是不是還會永遠這麼的甜呢？大家數年後是不是還會重複這種對話：你覺得好喝嗎？嗯，好喝！


想起一首歌，是Peter, Paul and Mary唱的Puff the magic dragon，講一個小男孩與一隻恐龍的友情，以及失去朋友之後的恐龍有多麼的落寞與悲傷。送給我的朋友，Vo, Je, Lan, Te：

作者曾說，這是a song about the innocence of childhood lost。年紀到了，有些時候真覺得人生很複雜很難搞，但我很高興我夠幸運，可以在異國他鄉這麼單純與輕鬆的與一群人相處。我會永遠記得，在我邁入三十歲的這一年，我跟一群人氣喘吁吁的在Kew Garden的大樹下玩紅綠燈，在Holborn地下室的酒吧用乒乓球打棒球，在法國里昂高盧劇場扮千手觀音，在44號B&B路邊拿小橄欖球玩躲避球(小球最後掉到隔壁旅館窗戶的溝溝裡了），在湖區與回倫敦的火車上拼命打橋牌.......


那些時刻，或許我免不了要去緬懷我不再擁有的the innocence of childhood，但同時，我也感謝讓我暫時的找回了它。祝福大家都有個美好的未來。
