金恩博士在演說中提到：「I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."（我有一個夢，有一天這個國家會硬起來，真正實現教義的真諦：「人人生而平等，我們認為這些真理是不證自明的。」）及I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.（我有一個夢，有一天我的四個孩子將活在一個不是以他們的膚色，而是以他們的人格優劣作論斷的國度裡。）」謙卑卻又震撼人心，四十五年後，奧巴馬當選後，也隨即引用美國前總統林肯的名言：「我們不是敵人，而是朋友。」重新修補大選前所撕裂的人民關係。反觀台灣，卻陷入人民互殘的局面。
由於金恩博士的撼人演說，以及隨即而來為民主為人權所爭喊的歌聲，鮑布狄倫與瓊拜雅茲，兩個當時才剛剛拿起吉他，唱起自己創作的歌曲，就這麼地被捲入歷史的洪流，見證了時代改變的一章，就如同我們現在身處的年代。
鮑布狄倫創作的《隨風而飄》（Blowin’ in the Wind），成為當晚眾人大合唱的民權運動國歌。該曲由狄倫創作於一九六二年，首先由民謠團體「彼德、保羅與瑪莉」（Peter, Paul and Mary）唱紅，他自己則在一九六三年發行的第二張專輯《The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan》中，收錄了此曲，當時美國開始陷入越戰泥沼，青年學子充滿對現實的不滿，大聲疾呼愛與和平，狄倫《隨》曲描述了對戰爭的質疑、對和平的渴望、對愛的憧憬，立刻成為青年學子的共主，被標上了反戰、抗議的旗幟。隔年，他再推出《改變的時刻》，宣告一個新時代的來臨。
而瓊拜雅茲演唱的《我們一定贏》的起源，則來自更早的問題──美國的黑奴制度。這首歌原來只是一小段旋律重覆哼著「I’ll Be All Right」最早流傳在十九世紀的黑奴間，一九○一年，美國通過隔離種族，一位牧師改為「I'll Overcome Someday」（「我有天一定會克服」），用來砥勵教會的黑人們。一九四六年，一群黑人女性在南方北卡萊納州罷工，其中一位女工突然唱起了這首歌，並將「我」改成「我們」，變成了「We’ll Overcome」。這個新版的歌逐漸燃起了南方民權運動的火苗，等到六○年代民謠歌手彼特席格（Pete Seeger）將歌詞中的「Will」改成語氣更堅定的「Shall」，民主人權的堡壘已逐漸在每人心中築巢，並且堅強無法摧毀。
於是，金恩博士推廣這首歌成為民權運動的主題曲。當他發表完《我有一個夢》的演說後，年輕的瓊拜雅茲抱著吉他輕輕唱起這首歌，頓時感動了成千上萬的抗議民眾。終於逼使美國總統詹森簽署了民權法案，終結種族隔離時，《We Shall Overcome》的歌聲在白宮外熱烈地響起：「我們不會害怕，我們不會害怕，我們一定會克服一切阻礙，我們一定贏。」
一首歌改變了全世界，奧巴馬寫下了新紀錄，台灣則等待「改變的時刻」！
