惠妮休斯頓（Whitney Houston）《One Moment in Time》

自從一九八四年洛杉磯奧運，讓奧運主辦單位轉虧為盈，奧運盛會從此由體育競賽變成商業活動，一九八八年漢城奧運更發揚光大，光是奧運歌曲《Hand in Hand》便創下驚人的商業價值與國際知名度，不過，另一首由惠妮休斯頓（Whitney Houston）演唱的《One Moment in Time》，可能才是我及眾多歌迷心中最經典的奧運歌曲。

一九八八年漢城奧運舉行前夕，美國國家廣播電視台（National Broadcasting Company，簡稱：NBC）旗下的體育節目《NBC Sports》系列，製播了為美國前進奧運加油的特別節目，特別與美國「Arista」唱片公司合作，製作一張《1988 Summer Olympics》專輯，邀集了電影配樂大師約翰威廉斯（John Williams）製作《Olympic Spirit》配樂及「」旗下歌手艾瑞克卡門（Eric Carmen）、泰瑞黛恩（Taylor Dayne）、「比吉斯」（Bee Gees）等一同共襄盛舉，主題曲《One Moment in Time》當然落在該公司最大牌也最受歡迎的惠妮休斯頓負責演唱。

提到這張專輯，當然得先講一下近代奧運的發展史。

一九七六年第二十一屆蒙特婁奧運，加拿大總理杜魯道以政治理由阻撓中華民國代表團入境，而非洲二十多個黑人國家為抗議種歧視，集體退出。一九八○年第二十二屆莫斯科奧運，美國為了抗議蘇俄進軍侵略阿富汗，集合六十多國抵制參加。一九八四年第二十三屆洛杉磯奧運，蘇俄還以顏色，也要求東歐社會主義等結盟國家，杯葛美國主辦的奧運；那年中華民國重返奧運會，卻被要求自此不能再以國名出賽，必須使用奧運會旗及「中華台北」的名義參賽。

從此後，看不到中華民國國旗在奧運會上飄揚。

一九八八年美、俄全員重返奧運，獎牌之爭變得攸關國家榮譽，美國為了能再創一九八四年洛杉磯奧運共一百七十四面獎牌的佳績，因此由「NBC」策劃、「Arista」製作，推出一張為奧運加油的專輯。不過，最後賽事結果，美國獎牌數大幅減少為九十四面，總成績也從上屆的冠軍，降為第三名，被宿敵蘇聯搶下冠軍，但這也是蘇聯與東德最後一次參加奧運，日後民主聖火高舉，兩國各自解體。

《One Moment in Time》這首歌由曾是「木匠兄妹」（Carpenters）固定的寫詞班底約翰班提斯（John Bettis）譜寫，曾寫出經典《南加州從不下雨》（It Never Rains in Southern California）的亞勃漢蒙（Albert Hammond）作曲，歌詞砥礪人們力爭上游、勇往直前，很啟發人心，一推出後便成很多歌迷對奧運歌曲的代表作，雖然只有拿到美國告示牌第五名成績，卻在英、德等歐洲國家拿下冠軍，而且至今傳唱不輟。

也把這首歌及先前寫的《和自己賽跑的人》獻給身邊持續努力、永不停息的朋友。
