《Sophie's World》

在書的第三頁第二行,寫著“Who are you?”
just ask questions, ...... as if he knew nothing喜歡字句分享:
get his opponents to recognize the weakness of their arguments, and, forced into a corner, they would finally be obliged to realize what was right and what was wrong
real understanding must came from within
One thing only I know, and that is that I know nothing.
Any one question can be more explosive than a thousand answers.
When we do wrong it is because we don't know any better. That is why it is so important to go on learning.
You can't experience being alive without realizing that you have to die (p.5)
reading what other people have believed can help us formulate our own view of life (p.13)
it would be pointless to chase after someone who was determined to get away (p.15)
We are more interested in how they thought than in exactly what they thought. (p.31)
understanding will always require some effort (p.39)
philosophy was not something you can learn; but perhaps you can learn to think philosophically. (p.40)
Wisest is she who knows she does not know..... (p.58)
knowing what you don't know is also a kind of knowledge. (p.59)
the question of whether a thing is right or wrong, good or bad, must always be considered in relation to a person's needs (p.62)
it is equally possible that they never get to the bottom of it, although there is a solution somewhere (p.13)
we require to be good philosophers is the faculty of wonder (p.15)
the world will have become a habit ...... people who take the world for granted (p.16)
Most adults accept the world as a matter of course. (p.18)
The stupidest thing she knew was for people to act like they knew all about things they knew absolutely nothing about. (p.59)

Hi,
Seeing that youre interested in Sophie's world, I would like to ask you to give your own personal response as to what you think to the following question.
Revisit the "red-tinted glasses" extended metaphor in Chapter 25 ('Kant'). What's the meaning of it? (Hint: Consider what Sophie discovers about rationalists and empiricists along the way.) How do these questions of perspective apply to your own life? Use examples from the novel and your life to illustrate your understanding of the "red-tinted glasses" metaphor/experiment.
