東德結束前，古淳一直在鄰鎮擔任市長一職，東德的崩解令她難以接受，因為這表示她所曾信仰的一切都結束了。他們兩個在1991年都停止參與拍攝，但到目前為止，古淳對於影片中所呈現的她仍堅信不移。
Gudrun went for a career in local politics. She became mayor in a neighbouring village of Golzow until the end of the GDR. The collapse of it was very hard for her to cope with for it meant the end of everything she and her father Arthur Klitzke believed in, lived and worked for decades. They both stopped participating in the chronicle in 1991 but Gudrun still sticks to everything the film shows of her so far.
