溫斐曾經擔任軍旅指揮官，現為機具製造工程師。1962年，戈索小男童溫斐才六歲，父親是農夫，母親是個農業製造公社的出納職員，從小古靈精怪，對任何事 物充滿好奇心。父親非常支持他走自己的路，從不干涉過問。兩德統一前，他是黨同志、參加工會抗爭、反階級鬥爭、接受黨的教育措施處分，到學校帶領社會主義 青年社；1989年12月12號，溫斐用雙腳走到西柏林，他在波茨坦廣場越過「世界的分界線」，2005年再次接受拍攝訪問已五十歲，認為目前德意志聯邦 共和國的民主體制雖仍有待改進之處，但相較於東德時期的共產體制卻好多了。

Winfried, graduate engineer for mechanic tool building, used to be commander of the brigade group at a pulp mill. This boy from Golzow was only six years old in 1962. His father was a crop farmer and his mother a clerk. Winfried was a curious child. His father supports him in leading his own life and never interferes. Before the two Germans became one, he was an active party comrade, participating in union strikes and undergoing ‘disciplinary measures’. He also taught the Free Democratic Youth course to 7th graders. On 12 December, 1989, Winfried walks to West Berlin. At Potsdamer Square, he crosses the border between two worlds…
