本來打算寫寫自己當年第一次參加歌唱比賽的趣事，但有新CD到手，也向各位推介一下。
雖說美國在多年前已經沒有了Folk的熱潮，但在坊間，仍有很多自行組織的Folk、Country、Bluegrass音樂會在各地方舉行，這類音樂會有時會進行幾天的呢，一家大小，可以邊聽或彈奏音樂，邊燒烤，享受一個愉快的音樂節日，我有朋友亦曾在美國參加過這類的音樂活動。
當然當年紅極一時的民歌歌星及樂隊風光不在，但並不代表他們完全退出歌唱界，Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez，The Brothers Four等不單在美巡迴演唱， 更在其他國家表演。
一位我很尊敬的女民歌手 – 現年已66歲的Joan Baez在今年也去了歐洲作巡迴演出呢。有關這位女歌手的生平，在互聯網中多的是，不作多表。這是她的官方網站：http://www.joanbaez.com/

在今年2月12日由英國一間名為Propermusic.com發行一張 1995年4月Joan Baez在美國紐約格林威治村一間名Bottom Line的現場錄音，CD名稱為Ring Them Bells -Collectors Edition(Ring Them Bells是Bob Dylan作品之一) ，其實這張CD在1995年已經發行了一張單張CD，只不過這次加入了好幾首bonus tracks，由於其中有幾首我很喜歡的，終於買了下來，這次的現場演唱會，Joan邀請了全女班歌手客串演出：Mary Black、Mary Chapin Carpenter、Mimi Farina (Joan的妹妹，她已在2000年因肺癌去世)、Tisb Hinojsoa、Janis Ian、Indigo Girls、Kite & Anna McGarrigle及Dar Williams一同演出及合唱了多首動聽的歌曲。Joan的歌聲對比起她年青時帶點沙啞，聲底較厚，我發覺她在六十年代中期唱腔已開始轉變，很有力量及控訴性，她在1969年Woodstock的表演可見一班，初出道時聲音帶尖及輕婉；畢竟年長了，現時更有濃濃的滄桑味。 但我不喜歡她現時使用的木結他調較得太有"電味"...........

I have this CD too. But this one is "Collector's Edition". I reckon they are different. I'll check mine.

This is also one of my favorite Joan Baez album in the last decade, mainly for her rare collaboration with lots of female guest artists. I have been listening to Baez since the early 70s and the first vinly I bought is the In Concert Vol 1 and 2 recorded in the early 60s. The tune of Geordie is also one of many songs from these two albums that still cling to my mind throughout of these years.
Singers went through changes in their voices and the conception of the arrangment. To me Joan Baez is the most appealing from her first album till Joan, the 6th one. I think that Joan Baez sounds the best with higher pitch voice, more acoustic feel and the least accompaniment.
