乍聽之下你以為他或許是跟Jack Johnson一起衝浪的麻吉，拿著吉他開心創作和搖擺的美國大男孩，後來你發現你錯了。他音樂的豐富性，隨著每一張專輯的前進不斷迸出驚喜火花，他不只灑下陽光，也讓你看見那背後的陰影和清涼。那歌聲裡的陰影，時而是迷人的暗面，時而又成了可以任你喘一口氣閉上眼歇息的蔭涼之處。

所以當他唱：「Live high, Live mighty, Live righteously」的時候，一點不會勵志得令人（其實是我）排斥，而是會想要伸手握住他伸過來的援手，（暫時）在歌聲裡相信氣力飽滿的人生有多麼值得一試。

真正拿著吉他流浪過的Jason Mraz，曾在街頭和自稱是靈媒的流浪漢成為心靈夥伴，也在後來四處走唱的過程中遇到堪稱他貴人的知名鼓手Toca Rivera，兩人共同演出的現場表演，成為當時在美國西岸地下流傳的夢幻逸品。從素人歌手到銷售白金，詞曲創作和唱功都一點不含糊的Jason Mraz，又是個白人裡少見的藍調與靈魂高手，甚至不必靠他的臉蛋加分─明明是個休葛蘭級的帥哥，卻喜歡把自己弄得還是像個流浪漢。

可原來流浪漢唱歌才迷人，戴著邋遢毛線帽就這麼唱完全場的 Jason Mraz，現唱完全是魅力四射。這點，看了演唱會畫面才知道比單聽音樂還厲害十分。我後知後覺地直到今年才看到他的live畫面，雖然也只是DVD，就足夠我在螢幕前熱淚盈眶，然後相當懊悔錯過了他年初來台的那一次。雖然那次他也沒有唱我很愛的〈If It Kills Me〉，但聽說也唱了很美的「美麗的小混亂」（A Beautiful Mess）當作安可曲…
