全名Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong的Dido,雖於1999年推出首張個人專輯《No Angel/無天使》,市場卻反映普普的長達一年之久,直到風格南轅北轍的饒舌痞子阿姆,取樣〈Thank You〉中的幾句歌詞在他暢銷單曲〈Stan〉裡頭,瞬時造成詢問度最高的作品,也終讓Dido風光的衣錦還鄉,入選滾石雜誌「年度風雲人物」,持續熱賣兩年仍高燒不退!趁勝追擊在2003年問市的第二張作品《Life For Rent/漂泊的心》,不僅發行首日大破10萬空降英國榜冠軍,美國也再次淪陷於Dido無法抵抗的動人歌聲中,以近20萬的銷售量站上告示牌Top4席次。
睽違五年之久,交出樂迷引頸長盼的第三張大碟《Safe Trip Home》,由Dido和哥哥Rollo以及電影配樂/唱片監製/歌手/詞曲創作家Jon Brion(肯依威斯特、基音、梅茜葛蕾)合力操盤。第一波主打〈Don’t Believe In Love〉,Dido帶著冷靜且堅決之語氣道出一段變質的愛情,漂浮著電子的迷離迴盪、弦樂動人適時的輔佐,拱出一首美到心碎的歌謠,率先在歐洲造成迴響,登上義大利+西班牙iTunes榜雙冠軍;以清脆吉他撥奏為根基的〈Quiet Times〉,盤旋在無壓的空間中,自然流露且順暢的音線甚是迷人;營造徐緩陰鬱電氣化氛圍,混搭居爾特民族風的〈Grafton Street〉,是一代宗師Brian Eno掌舵的精緻戲碼,超級搖滾樂團Fleetwood Mac的成員Mick Fleetwood更前來負責鼓擊的部分,寫著關於Dido已逝父親的弔念哀歌;〈The Day Before The Day〉則憶起分手前的種種景象,輕柔呢喃中倚著心痛與不捨;請到紐約DJ/跨界多元創作才子Citizen Cope友情站台之〈Burnin’ Love〉,共通唱及屬於現代都會男女的情愛故事。著墨在生活週遭的喜怒哀樂當中,有寬恕包容、感激懷念、傷感分離…Dido詮釋的如此刻骨銘心,並蘊藏無比生命力且真誠撫慰心靈的聲頻觸感。

Rock and pop have reached and passed the ripe old age of 50... yes, they've aged and now seem to be retracing their steps somewhat to their golden past.
Like Nouvelle Vague, Hollywood, Mon Amour revisits a genre, a period, retaining only the basic skeleton of the songs (melody and lyrics) to demonstrate that by arranging them differently they can take on a new life while still respecting the original. The titles are, certainly for my generation, classics in their genre.
For this project my attention was drawn to the songs featured in the movies of the 80s, those mainly produced in Hollywood... strangely enough, you come across quite a lot of bands from the post punk era whose success led them to writing songs for feature films... Blondie comes to mind, Simple Minds, The Human league, Duran Duran and their godfather, David Bowie. Even if all these songs were a huge success, and will always remain classics, nowadays they suffer from having that typical end of the 80s sound which isn't any longer of our times.
John Barry is hailed by one and all for the film music he composed in the 60s, 70s right up until the 90s, and while Diamonds are Forever or Goldfinger are the first songs that spring to mind, what about A View to A Kill, written like the others for a Bond film in '85 and performed by Duran Duran? Barry's musical star has certainly not waned since then, it's still there, possibly hidden somewhat by (perhaps) a little too much make-up. So, let's imagine what A View to A Kill would have sounded like if Barry had produced it 10 years earlier...
Well, here is not history revisited, but a part of musical history rewritten that all came about while rearranging the songs from the movies of the 80s, each time imagining a different story and a different era. For the project I surrounded myself with the finest voices I have had the pleasure to come across recently: Skye, Juliette Lewis, Cibelle, Yael Naim, Dea Li, Katrine Ottosen, Nadeah, Leelou,Nancy Danino, Bianca Calandra ...
Hollywood, Mon Amour (some people will undoubtedly see an allusion to French cinema here), is a collection of the greatest songs from the movies of the 80s rearranged by Marc Collin, Nouvelle Vague's producer. (Introduction by Marc Collin)

Recorded and mixed in 7 days and featuring only voice, strings and piano, Wilderness is the new album from Brett Anderson and heralds an amazing new chapter in his life. Throughout his career it would be fair to say that Brett Anderson has never done anything by halves. At strategic points he has performed such a volte- face with his music that it has sometimes been hard for fans and critics to know what he is going to do next. This record is no exception, and is the most astounding record Brett has made in his entire career. Wilderness may well be the most haunting record you will hear all year. Detailing a love affair, the record displays all the heightened emotions of love and thus is joyous, bleak, euphoric, and reflective - and very beautiful. It's a record that is intense and stands outside of the mainstream and is all the better for it. Like all classic albums, its an album Brett Anderson had to make at this point in his life. 在艾蜜莉亞娜的《Me and Armini》裡,就像聽著一千零一夜的故事,Indie、Folk、Trip Hop、Chill Out、Reggae還有好多,變幻多端的音樂類型正如她不喜歡單獨創作的個性,與樂手即興Jam出連自己都驚豔的作品,似生活般無法掌控,才是她最愛的寫歌模式。
自冰島Kópavogur成長,義大利混血的艾蜜莉亞娜七歲成為合唱團女高音,十五歲就讀戲劇學校,在學生時期的創作便獲獎連連;而後她加入冰島電子樂團GusGus,為其打造經典專輯《Polydistortion》,在冰島發行數張個人專輯後,艾蜜莉亞娜進而獲英倫樂隊Tears For Fears首腦Roland Orzabal賞識,為她製作首張英語專輯《Love In The Time Of Science》(1999),接著她轉換廠牌至Rough Trade,發行大受樂迷與評論界讚賞的《Fisherman’s Woman》(2005),更與多年的創作夥伴Dan Carey跨界共譜Kylie Minogue單曲〈Slow〉,拿下葛萊美獎「最佳舞曲唱片」,並於2006年獲冰島音樂獎(Icelandic Music Awards)三項大獎:年度最佳流行專輯、最佳歌手、最佳音樂錄影帶。艾蜜莉亞娜同時是電影電視原聲帶的寵兒,不但曾為史詩鉅片【魔戒二部曲】獻唱插曲〈Gollum’s Song〉,包括【實習醫生】、【籃球的天空】、【酷男的異想世界】、【千金情】等劇中皆能聽見她的聲音;艾蜜莉亞娜也曾粉墨登場演戲,更擔任過2005 年威尼斯影展評審(當年的金獅獎最佳影片即是台灣導演李安的【斷背山】)。
此回,艾蜜莉亞娜繼續攜手與Franz Ferdinand/Hot Chip的製作人兼好友Dan Carey,和Adele/Duffy的製作人Eg White一起創作,全新專輯《Me and Armini》分別在三個不同的地方寫歌、錄音,英國牛津Dan的鄉間小屋、冰島的寒冷天氣下與倫敦的錄音室,我們好像聽見木頭裂開、鳥兒雀躍啁啾、樹葉互相擊掌的聲音,他們在神奇的兩週半內寫完12首歌,彷彿一張專輯中有三種生命。
開場曲〈Fireheads〉艾蜜莉亞娜變幻著嬌嗔的嗓音,法式香頌的巧克力甜味留在唇齒中,俏皮有如Regina Spektor,慵懶的訴說情人間的爭執與誤解;寫給變心男人的專輯同名曲〈Me and Armini〉則化身Lily Allen,濃烈的雷鬼節奏戲劇效果十足。可愛趣味的〈Big Jumps〉甜甜的要讓你也快樂跳起來,所有煩憂驟將消除;華爾滋旋律滲入〈Dead Duck〉,有如Múm親自打理起電氣效果,陰鬱過後再讓鋼琴帶進一點陽光。曾以Demo樣貌現身當紅電視劇【實習醫生】的〈Beggar’s Prayer〉,此回仍以靜謐的獨唱小品佔據心房;畫龍點睛的末曲〈Bleeder〉則宛如一首美麗搖籃曲,陪伴我們入眠。
艾蜜莉亞娜卸下Portishead的包袱,也悄悄與同樣來自冰島的Bjork揮別,她已具備獨樹一格的潛質,《Me and Armini》是一篇敘事文,聽著聽著,就像艾蜜莉亞娜自稱靈魂被某個女人奪走而寫下〈Me and Armini〉似的,我們的魂魄早已飛到遙遠的冰島,在雷克雅維克隨著她流浪。(by林貓王)

THE OPIATES REVISED / thomas feiner & anywhen

Thomas Feiner's old band Anywhen dissolved under the pressure to finish Opiates, leaving Feiner stranded with an unfinished album to plough through alone. It took two years, but eventually Feiner drew the project to a close, revealing an end result that Samadhi Sound boss David Sylvian would come to regard as a much overlooked classic.
It's surprising to think that the Gothenburg-based band didn't find a wider audience with this record in the first place: by merit of its sheer sense of scale and dramatic poise Opiates is a feast for the ears, and a dark, cinematic listening experience to be reckoned with. The production is over-brimming with the densely layered arrangements of the Warsaw Radio Symphony Orchestra, present in all their gloomy splendour on tracks like 'Betty Caine' and the hugely ambitious 'The Siren Songs', which rubs shoulders with the Scott Walker-channelling sounds of the Last Shadow Puppets album, or even the soundtrack work of John Barry in its impressive coda. For all the album's bluster, Feiner's voice proves to be more than a match, and you can certainly see why David Sylvian holds the album in such high regard. Feiner's stately baritone set against the profound sense of melancholy that presides over the album isn't actually too far removed from the kind of emotive core at the heart of Sylvian's own work.
Since its initial release the album has been lovingly re-packaged and remastered, supplemented by a further two songs from Feiner as a solo artist which capture the same vein of upscale balladry that characterises the original set of recordings. Highly recommended. (BOOKMAT)

有瑪麗蓮夢露接班人之稱的亮眼女星Scarlett Johansson,不僅是眾多導演爭相合作的人氣王,更是當代知性與性感兼具的女星代表。1994年以童星身分以電影【正當防衛】、【小鬼當家3】等片出道,2003年開始,即因【愛情不用翻譯】、【戴珍珠耳環的少女】二片,相繼贏得英國演藝學院電影獎(BAFTA)"最佳女主角獎",金球獎"最佳女主角"提名,成為個人影業生涯代表作;近來在電影【頂尖對決】、【豪門保姆日記】、【美人心機】中的精湛演技,更是使她人氣竄升為當紅新生代女演員!法國新進樂團The Teenagers為她著迷到寫了一首「Starlett Johansson」大剌剌唱出對她的另類遐想。

DOOR/ EVERY LITTLE THING

本次的專輯「Door」一舉包盡精彩的各項變化,以以往未見的幅度在音樂性上試驗,包括了暢快夏季感的《閃亮時光》、慵懶雷鬼的《咖拉咖拉》、在寒冷季節裡也絕對能溫暖人心的愛情詩體《正在戀愛》、與?原敬之合作的《冬天要開始了呢》、專輯先發的單曲《櫻色你我》則是率先迎來無限美好的春意,接著,專輯重點歌曲《gladiolus 劍蘭》以積極卻也難過的態度,象徵性的迎向緊挨著身邊的大門,決定推門而出的無限生命力。
除了《gladiolus 劍蘭》的清澈憂傷外,EVERY LITTLE THING在意料之外玩出了相當多的新意,諸如《WONDER LAND》以電玩賽車感狂飆在甜蜜的愛情故事裡,可愛逗趣的電音節拍和動人清脆的水晶敲擊聲,讓復古裡有著新的戀愛趣事。《NEROLI 橙花》扭開EVERY LITTLE THING累積已久的爆發力,就在《B.L.V.D.》伴奏曲之後突然的轟炸,一陣吃驚。不論是歌詞或是編曲譜寫,都讓人被緊捉不放,不自主地一聽再聽,迫使自己去認識儲存在內心裡引發的層層問句,那些由淚水所認識的生命,那些阻擋我們的重重限制。《奧菲莉亞_act2》則是晚安曲依序拂過的平靜,漂浮在入睡前的溫暖曲子,和聲在乳白色布幔邊迴盪,持田的細聲為你拉起了睡簾,許願著安恬夢境。
