經過兩年前在專輯《No promises》嘗試利用19到20世紀的英語詩句入樂，從名模到創作歌手再成為法國第一夫人的Carla Bruni，這次最新專輯《假如一切未曾發生》（Comme Si De Rien N’Etait）回歸創作路線，14首絕大部分是Bruni的原創歌曲，相對以往較簡約的民謠編曲，新專輯呈現更為豐富的樂器編制，並嘗試涉獵當代流行、藍草(blue grass)、爵士以至佛朗明高等多元樂風，Bruni得天獨厚的魅力讓一眾頂尖音樂人樂於助陣，包括Benedicte Schmitt、Dominique Blanc Francard、Louis Bertignac、Benjamin Biolay與Julien Clerc等，為整張專輯的音樂性提供高品味的保證。其實相對於作曲，Bruni大膽直率的歌詞更引人注意與好奇，像一首《你是我的毒品》："我吸你，呼你，直到暈厥；你已經注進我的血脈，就已經夠讓人想入非非了，再加上你是我的毒品，比哥倫比亞的白粉更危險。”，引起哥倫比亞人的強烈抗議也就不意外了。另外"我是個孩子，雖然40歲了，雖然擁有過30個情人，但仍是個孩子……"也讓他的現任丈夫薩科奇頗為受傷。

Aimee's seventh solo album is a return to form after the artistic detours of 2005's concept album The Forgotten Arm and 2006's Christmas CD One More Drifter in the Snow. Featuring thirteen new original songs, producer Paul Bryan describes the record as "deceptively powerful...very rich and grand-sounding." The songs range from the stripped-down-to-basics of "Columbus Avenue," to the almost Cars-esque synth-pop of "Freeway," alongside the classic Jimmy Webb/Glen Campbell-era "Phoenix,". The final song "Ballantines" is a duet with Sean Hayes complete with barroom piano and trombone section. All songs were penned by Mann with the exception of "True Believer" which was co-written with fellow singer-songwriter Grant Lee Phillips.

SUNDAY AT DEVIL DIRT / isobel campbell & mark lanegan

Teaming up for the second time, Isobel Campbell (formerly of Belle & Sebastian) and Mark Lanegan (formerly of The Screaming Trees and myriad legendary grunge off-shoots) forge an unlikely but perfectly balanced mutual reliance. Campbell's soft, almost jazzy voice is the worthy foil of Lanegan's booming baritone, the two of them equal parts soothing and menace. This follow-up can be brandished as proof that opposites don't only attract, but can grow together even as they grow apart.

See, on Sunday at Devil Dirt Lanegan's weighty presence expands to a point where it obscures the moon--especially on "The Raven" and "Back Burner" where his Johnny Cash/Tom Waits croak reaches optimum levels of exaggeration--as Campbell flits further into the background, weaving between Morricone-esque, spaghetti western strings and sewing a beautiful ethereal quality into the seams. And such vocal juxtapositions make for intoxicating harmonies and stark, memorable impressions. But there is still also a real gentle magic to be found when they operate on an equal footing, as on "Trouble" or the sultry "Come on Over (Turn Me On)", the latter begging to be a James Bond theme. –(James Berry, amazon.com)

METODE DE ROCANROL / pascal comelade

對法國另類流行音樂有點涉獵的朋友，Pascal Comelade的名字一定不會感到陌生，他那聽起來好像簡單，帶點灰帶點怪又帶點童真的感性音符，配合不同原音樂器的巧妙編排，尤其是玩具鋼琴的運用特別令人印象深刻。拉丁音樂－特別是探戈與加泰隆尼亞的音樂是他的根源，但他就是有辦法轉化成自己的風格，還引來不少後來者模仿（日本就有一隊向他致敬的樂團叫Pascal）。最近剛收到他的新專輯「Metode de Rocanrol」，不追求什麼新的突破，一切還是那樣自成一派、悠然自得。

歷經2006年和2007年的兩個冬天才完成新專輯，期間Pascal把自己關在房裡創作演奏錄音，只允許專輯助陣樂手，即鼓手Didier Banon、伸縮號手Enzo Tozoni以及長期合作夥伴銅管大師Pep Pascual三人進入；Pascal則照例包辦吉他、斑鳩琴、黑管、手風琴、玩具鋼琴、迷你電風琴等大部分器樂演奏，序曲〝Stranger in Paradigm〞結合搖滾與藍調略帶傷感，緊接著的〝L’U"〞則是強烈紐奧良草根味的銅管曲，〝Jopo de Pojo Not Dead〞帶有Kurt Weill風格彷彿旋轉木馬的倫巴曲，〝The Hallucinogenic Espontex Sinfonia〞充滿了濃濃波麗路加泰隆尼亞風格，〝Smog on the Vermut〞一曲充滿著探戈的愛恨情仇，不過最有趣的要算是〝Elvis Loved Dogs〞，以Kinks樂團名曲〝You Really Got Me〞為引子然後帶出之後的主題音樂來描寫畫家Kata Billups的名作〝Elvis Loved Dogs〞，最後在彷彿法國印象派大師薩堤風格的寧靜悠揚鋼琴曲，為整張專輯劃下一個完美的休止符！值得一提的是，封面那幅「裸身米妮」，是觀念攝影大師Les Krims的著名作品，跟Pascal的灰色幽默音樂氣質可謂絕配。

A fourteen-song set documenting The Decemberists' lead singer/songwriter's 2006 solo tour. Meloy was heralded by Rolling Stone as "a master of improbable juxtaposition: arcane, detailed fictions of star-crossed passion and avenging bloodshed dressed up in indie rock jangle, la-de-da choruses, and vintage prog-rock bombast" in a review of The Decemberists' show in NY's Central Park last spring. By contrast, the live solo album presents him in a stripped down, acoustic setting. Of the thirteen Meloy originals, two are previously unreleased compositions, "Dracula's Daughter" and "Wonder". Along the way, he employs snippets of songs from The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, and REM. The collection also captures ample between-song banter.

Phoebe Killdeer was once a member of Nouvelle Vague. She’s belting out bluesy gothic numbers like the Duke Spirit, with hints of early Nick Cave or PJ Harvey about her. It's a stompy American rock thing going on, with a passion that recalls the Noisettes. A track is called 'I Like You Very Much' - it's hard to disagree. And her backing band ain't half bad either - being able to pull off the white-boy afro and shiny silver trainers combo is a sign of excellence from their guitarist. They would be perfect for a Tarantino soundtrack, their retro sleaze sound off-set with the ability to craft poppy little gems with hints of surf punk.

2001年起，發行三張個人專輯和四張電影原聲帶（三部衝浪+一部動畫），唱片公司大老闆摸不著頭緒，這個衝浪選手怎會一次比一次暢銷，簽約金立刻加兩倍，然後傑克強森也立刻退回：「用錢買人買歌的想法，令我不安。」還好大老闆有慧根，改成一張空白合約：「尊重你的一切決定。」這才喚回傑克強森，讓他能安心創作。安心創作，說來可不簡單。

首先，他成立自己的音樂廠牌Brushfire Records，廣邀同好Matt Costa、ALO等創作歌手加入，不讓環球高層干預任何音樂製作；然後，他在夏威夷的自宅蓋起名為「芒果樹」錄音室，屋頂舖滿太陽能版(專輯內附小冊有圖為證)，以太陽能發電錄製專輯，不用耗電的電腦錄音軟體, 不斷彩排演唱新歌，然後一氣呵成將歌曲錄製在盤帶上，另外，再詳加確定全世界都採用百分百再生紙印製專輯。取之於大自然，用之於好音樂，一個人的堅持，讓全世界找回音樂最初的感動與美好。傑克強森第四張個人專輯"Sleep Through The Static"，讓人佩服的五體投地。

Having previously made a name for himself as the seedier half of Scottish indie legends Arab Strap, Aidan John Moffat here finds himself in distinctly more lewd territory than thealready unabashed work of his previous band. 'I Can Hear Your Heart' is a collection of poems and short stories read over a variety of music and atmospheric sounds, at turns humorous, heartbreaking and always explicit. A light narrative runs throughout, with an enclosed short story in the sleeve (charmingly entitled 'Poop') setting the scene. In amongst thespoken words, Moffat even finds time to include an accordion-led cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Hungry Heart'.

New studio album from Alessandra Celletti, the Italian composer/pianist whose previous CDs include acclaimed interpretations of works by Glass, Satie and Gurdjieff.

Way Out is Alessandra's third album of original material, following Overground (1997) and Chi Mi Darà Le Ali (2006). Recorded in Rome in 2007, Way Out marks an inovative exploration of several musical styles, including vocal tracks sung by Alessandra as well as a number of her exquisite solo piano compositions. She is joined on most of the tracks by drummer Fabio Ferri, while Renzo Pin provided English-language lyrics.

Stand-out tracks include Dear To Me, Burning and Hundred Points, the latter a future pop classic complemented by a brilliant animated video clip made by Tony Sbarbaro. A unique set that defies classification, the album also features one bonus song, the beautiful title track from Alessandra's previous artist album, Chi Mi Darà Le Ali. The memorable cover image is the painting Pensando alla Guerra by artist Isobel Blank.

Asa grew up in Lagos, a city teeming with people and buzzing with energy but also home to a deep-rooted spirituality. Islam thrives shoulder to shoulder with Christianity in an atmosphere of tolerance, “Lagos is the New York of Nigeria. If you want to get anywhere in music, that’s where you’ll find the best opportunities, as well as the worst pitfalls.”

Asa soon signed to the Naïve label. Partnered by Cobhams, and with the new involvement of Christophe Dupouy, she produced a magnificent eponymous album: the music’s grace reflects its tempo, humour is never far from emotion, the melodies are unstoppable, the young singer’s voice and energy testify to her enormous talent. The flautist Magic Malik is also featured, shedding his light on the eleven tracks, where the almost magical simplicity of the way the melodies get under your skin should not hide the richness of the arrangements: elegant strings, perfectly placed drums and percussion, guitar — her favourite instrument — along with the Hammond organ playing the field between funk and soul. R&b rubs up against pop, with reggae also making an appearance on Fire On The Mountain, the first track released from the album, an impertinent and barely-disguised metaphor for an ignorant and indifferent world.

Highly personal and totally universal, Asa’s music will undoubtedly cross all frontiers, not just geographical, but also those of the heart and soul.

日本女唱作人UA（名字出自東非斯瓦希里（Swahili）語，旣是美麗的“花朶”同時又有暴戾的“殺戮”雙重涵義。）無論音樂風格與外形向來百變，前陣子在一個類似日本勁歌金曲的節目中看到她演唱時，除了驚訝她會上這種節目，一身波希米亞流浪者造型特立獨行，更驚豔的是她的唱功越來越好，不是高音飆低音厚嚇死人那種，而是以她對音樂的敏銳見解，渾厚沙啞的聲線，濃淡適中地將歌曲意境傳神表達，歌詞靈感緣自她前往山梨縣八嶽演唱途中，看見閃閃發光的白菜園時所受到的感動。

她的最新專輯《Golden Green》可以說以對大自然與人類的關懷出發，從第一首剛提到的，洋溢着慵懶氣息與對大自然讚美的《黃金比綠》、到以印度西塔琴與塔布拉手鼓伴奏且以奄美大島方言詮釋的島歌《鳥兒》、宛若童謠般唱出UA夢中奇幻世界的“lenon lenon/灰猿之夢”，再到“Love scene”“Paradaise alley/Ginga cafe”“Moor”等幾首極具韻味的情歌，透過UA的詮釋皆呈現別具一格的感性。

幕後製作團隊個個是實力派，赫然發現內橋和久的名字，這位早在八十年代即嶄露頭角，身兼書畫家、詩人、舞蹈家，即興演奏吉他手的奇葩，最為樂迷津津樂道的莫過於他與大友良英等合組Ground Zero，這次他為UA寫了兩首曲子，以電吉他伴奏大部分曲子，還有編曲等，沒有Ground Zero的激進噪音，換來的是提供極具聆聽性又不落俗套的音樂質感，確實令整張音樂作品的品位提升不少，也將UA獨特、優雅卻又銳利無比的魅力發揮得恰到好處。(子嬰)

Fink’s debut album for Ninja Tune, traded, at least in part, on a seismic musical shift for both artist and label, then distance and Time raises the game for both parties. This latest album is the result of a frenetic live schedule over the past year - Fink, together with bassist Guy Whittaker and drummer Tim Thornton, having played dozens of festivals, over a hundred shows, and even a Zero 7 support tour.

Here are no samples, and we’ve kept the electronic trickery to a minimum on this record. Fink think that the songs have enough gravitas and emotional punch to get through without all of that, and I was very conscious of not being a touchy-feely photocopy of someone from the seventies or whatever.

Following the amazing success story of Vashti Bunyan’s recent re-emergence as an artist after an exile of over 30 years, we are proud and excited to release ‘Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind’, a comprehensive compilation of early recordings dating from the period prior to Vashti’s classic ‘Just another Diamond Day’ album which was originally released1970.

Titled after Vashti’s (Jagger/Richards-penned) debut single which opens the compilation, this double-album represents an attempt to both open out and draw a line under the past, and also to try to set the record straight about the disparity between how Vashti viewed (and still views) herself against the way she has been popularly perceived. Widely construed as a folk singer - a tag she fundamentally disagrees with - these recordings instead reveal Vashti as a pop singer, however ‘fragile’ and unique.

St. Vincent is the moniker of singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Annie Clark and this is her debut full-length. She's opened for such diverse acts as Television, Jose Gonzalez, and Sufjan Stevens, and she's an inventive and versatile guitarist who has also performed with avant-garde composer Glenn Branca. On this record, she writes cinematic pop epics that feel at times like Paris in the 20s before all the fun ended. Or, conversely, an orchestra of pure modernity - a new American music, informed by jazz, gospel blues, Southern folk music, and classical composition but, in the end, an animal original unto itself. She's been compared to everyone from Bjork to Kate Bush to Jeff Buckley, and her beautiful voice melds perfectly with her intricate guitar work.

Like a modern day Chet Baker, Jens loves to sing about heartache. This is his first album in over three years, and Kortedala refers to a neighborhood in his hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden - "a depressing suburban hell". It also refers to a vague musical pop sound with hints of tropicalia that has been coming out of Gothenburg's clubs the last few years. "Night Falls Over Kortedala" features many previously unreleased live favorites and guest vocals from label-mate Frida Hyvonen and El Perro del Mar.

White Chalk is PJ HARVEY's eighth studio album and first new material since 2004's critically acclaimed Uh Huh Her. PJ Harvey went into the studio late last year to record and produce with Flood and John Parish. The three had worked together previously on the GRAMMY nominated To Bring You My Love and on Is This Desire?. White Chalk also includes musical contributions from Harvey's long time associate Eric Drew Feldman, and Jim White from The Dirty Three. The album highlights PJ Harvey's incredible ability to consistently create a unique, yet always impactful experience with each new album. Her talents as a songwriter, musician, and producer have never been as powerful, or profound, as on White Chalk. The songs are wonderfully mesmerizing, leaving a hypnotic effect on the listener.

在雷光夏的音樂中，所營造的『聲音電影／Sound Film』及『文學音樂／Literal Music』高質感氣氛，是可以讓人在『聽』的過程中，滿足了『視覺的想像空間』。同時也滿足了他們對藝術化個人生活空間的想像。雷光夏在開始製作『時間的密語　全新創作專輯』這張專輯之初，對於專輯完成後的全貌，據她說：『只是一堆抽象的片段跟一些模糊的影像，所組合成音樂夢想』。後來到了紐約找爵士鋼琴家Uri Caine為她編曲、演奏；還有眾多朋友如侯志堅、陳主惠、王雁盟、陳冠宇、張惠妮、董運昌….跨刀相助。導演蕭雅全把光夏的六首歌串成一步音樂短片『地圖』，更是Sound Film 概念的徹底實現。
