Day OFF是目前定居多倫多的澳門音樂家Njo Kong Kie，於當地成立的新古典三重奏，成員還包括來自蒙特婁的小提琴手Simon Claude與大提琴手Alexandre Castonguay，Njo則擔任鋼琴演奏與作曲部分。他們在2002至2005年間，因跟隨著名舞團La La La Human Steps出國巡迴演出Amelia 而結緣，成立樂團Day OFF並創作屬於自己的音樂，以鋼琴、小提琴和大提琴作主要的演奏架構，嘗試融合西洋古典傳統與當代流行風格，從極微主義、世界音樂、搖滾到電子，如果你喜歡Rachel、Rob Dougan、GY!BE或Max Richter，Day OFF絕對不會讓你失望！

Njo Kong Kie
自幼在澳門學習音樂，後來移居加拿大，自1996起擔任蒙特婁著名現代團La La La Human Steps的鋼琴演奏與音樂總監，個人音樂創作曾被用作加拿大重量級作家Margaret Atwood小說Oryx and Crake（台譯末世男女）官網配樂、Edouard Lock得獎舞蹈影片Amelia配樂以及加拿大廣播公司（CBC）紀錄片系列China Rises配樂等。Njo已先後創作過兩部小劇場歌劇 (Chamber Opera) Shattered Glass 與Knotty Together，在多倫多獲得正面評價，並曾在Pride Toranto Festival中舉行個人音樂會，2002至2005年間成立自己的三重奏Day OFF。
Day OFF is Montreal violinist Simon Claude, Montreal cellist Alexandre Castonguay and Toronto pianist/composer Njo Kong Kie.
The three musicians met while touring with La La La Human Steps. Between 2002 and 2005, the musicians performed with the company across Europe, North America and Asia. Apart from touring the show Amelia, we also recorded and contributed original music to the soundtrack of Edouard Lock ‘s award winning dance film of the same name. The film was nominated for an international Emmy Award.
Day OFF was founded during the tours with La La La Human Steps. The music of this album was written during the days off of the tours. The instrumentation is classical - a trio of piano, violin and cello. We perform only original music – a music creation guided by the classical traditions and the sensibility of the contemporary pop culture - old world in the new world.
Listeners have found the tracks to be reminiscent of artists ranging from Rachels’ to Rob Dougan to God speed you black emperor to Peccatum. Romantic, filmic, evocative are also some of the adjectives used to describe the music.
Here is a little note about me, the pianist and composer of Day OFF. I have been, since 1996, the pianist/musical director of Montreal-based modern dance company, La La La Human Steps.
Excerpts of my compositions have been used on the web site of Margaret Atwood's novel, Oryx and Crake, on the promotional web video of the London International Festival of Theatre, the soundtrack of the award winning Edouard Lock's film, Amelia and the CBC documentary series China Rises.
I have written two chamber operas, Shattered Glass and knotty together, both of which have been produced at theatre festivals in Toronto to very positive reviewed. I have also produced and presented a concert of my music at Pride Toronto Festival.
