Peray

Quick question about photography, because you seem to know what you are doing...hahaha
When filming in darker restaurants.... the flash tend to create a glare and make the food look funny....
What is the proper way to film food in darker places?
Thanks,
Starberry

Starberry,
Besides turning off ur flash & hold the camera w/ firm hands, turn up the ISO to get more exposure & turn on that Macro function for close-ups. I'm just(gradually)getting the hang of it from "Peray The Teacher". :))

Peray: I was referred to your site by SG. You have got quite a blog, and your NYC section was very helpful! Hahaha, and yup, what happened when I called Peter Luger only a week ahead of time? "Hello sir, we have 10:15 and 10:45 available..."
Anyways, How do you feel about the "dark room mode" function available on cameras? Should that be used?
SG: Well, HOPEFULLY I get to move to NYC, we will see how the interviews go. Thanks for the tip on the ISO, now I will actually have to learn how to use my camera! By the way, I have a Sony T5, which is a notoriously bad camera for people with shaky hands....

I went to Peter luger at 4:15pm !!! too late for brunch, too early for early bird..
what will u call that? early steak?
I never encourage ppl use sony camera..
Simply becuase Fuji have better night shot in dark environment..u can try shoot some night scent with different light at home. During teh day time, all cameras does the job, but when it comes to night scene, Maybe u will need to know ur camera better.
forced Iso will only screw the quality of the photos..I rather let the camera auto mode to determind the iso it need..

Peray,
Hahaha, well, it's an interesting strategy employed by Peter Luger. Since most restaurants, when overwhelmed by diners, choose to raise prices instead of extending hours of operation. However, it really seems like you enjoyed your meal, which is the most important part.
As for my Sony T5, you are right, I have been playing with the settings and noticed that a lot of "noise" is introduced to the image when the ISO setting is increased. I think I will need to experiment with the different settings a bit more, perhaps with a sandwich or something when I am sitting at home.
On an unrelated note, were you educated overseas? Because your English is quite fluent for a native Taiwanese. I am quite impressed!
Take Care,
Wilson/Starberry

Peray: Well, I take the impossible to book as a good sign. I am always weary of walking into empty restaurants.
I played around with the settings a bit and found that my ham sandwich looked ok under a candle light with an ISO200 setting. However, I did go check out some reviews for the Fuji30 and they were overwelmingly positive. I will keep it in mind when my year end bonus comes around...hahaha
As for Sydney, I guess that makes sense now, with all the info you have relating to Sydney on your blog. And yes, on your behalf, we will have a moment of silence for your fellow Australian the Crocodile Hunter.
SG: Well, it's a dilemma b/c I bring my camera everywhere so compactness/small size is important. But of course, we know that smaller cameras are also more susceptible to shaky hands. There have been quite a bit of advertising on TV for new shake/rumble resistant features on new cameras, which I assume is what you are talking about. And again, that shall be investigated when my year end bonus comes in. Can't count the chickens until they are hatched!!!
By the way, I am sure both of you have been asked about this before, but what camera do you use?

Peray,
Unfortunately, I am already back in Toronto, so I will have to wait until next time to try Peter Luger. (The 1045pm slot they had available was way too late, as I had to catch a late train to Connecticut that night.)
However, if I end-up landing the job and moving to New York, I would definitely treat myself to it as a pat on the back.
I am glad that you are able to introduce Sydney to people via your blog, b/c I think that Sydney is very under-rated in terms of a city for good food.
So I assume that you do a lot of surfing too? Or am I stereotyping (you know Australians...spends their days on the beach surfing..hahahaha) (and don't worry, you can stereotype me too. Yes I play hockey, and yes I am an admin for a hockey discussoin board/forum.)
