James Blunt and Death Cab for Cutie
最近深陷於 James Blunt 和 Death Cab for Cutie 的音樂之中，雖然相關資料還沒認真看完，所有專輯也聽過二、三遍而已，但迫不及待想把一開始一見鍾情的那刻介紹給大家 :P
上尉詩人 James Blunt 其實前陣子打得蠻凶的，在英國應該算爆紅狀態，一首 You're Beautiful (MV) 更是橫掃全球。不過我真正認識他，卻是最近朋友寄來收錄於第一張專輯 Back to Bedlam 的最後一首歌 No Bravery（常常我最喜歡的都是壓箱之作，播放時也愛把曲序 reverse ，可見個人偏好已漸趨冷門與不討喜，哈）。James Blunt 出身軍人家庭，2002 年轉行成為歌手前，曾派駐科索沃。最近科索沃獨立引起大家的注目，特別臺灣也面對統獨議題。雖然臺灣的處境、歷史和外交上的條件都和科索沃不同，但科索沃獨立所意涵的內在爭奪石油資源，以及外在歐美與塞爾維亞、俄羅斯之間的政治角力勢必在未來引發更多外交風波等等接踵而來的問題，引起許多討論和思考，我想尤其是分離主義（Separatism）的堅持與其血的代價、有沒有更細緻雙贏的方法來面對統獨、國際強權在區域衝突的操作與資源（貿易）利益掠奪之間的關係等等。
這首 No Bravery 從戰爭底下的平民觀點（感受）出發，畢竟衝突之下最直接的受害者就是老百姓。James Blunt 纖細憂鬱的嗓音，搭配簡單的鋼琴和攝人心魂的小提琴，以戰場的親身經歷為基底，宛如一把無形刃，直直插入最柔軟的同情地帶，讓人在共感裡不免泫然欲泣……

另外一個讓我沈迷的獨立樂團是 Death Cab for Cutie，開始聽是因為在 chris 的實驗小說裡提到 I'll follow you into the dark 這首歌，把至死不渝的深愛變得甜甜蜜蜜的，只能說他們非常 introspective 的歌詞搭配上偏 dream-pop 的曲風，一整個就是我的菜（笑）
