線上遊戲之玩家行為初探研究- 以《魔獸世界》為例

線上遊戲之玩家行為初探研究-以《魔獸世界》為例

《中文摘要》

線上遊戲產業的蓬勃發展,帶來了許多社會現象,以及相關的學術研究啟發與拓展。不過線上遊戲的相關研究,仍多是探討其參與動機、沉迷、忠誠度、滿意度和消費意願或行為等這些較表面的面向,對於玩家行為的「內容」,以及影響玩家行為的面向,多未有更深入與完整的探討,故本研究以目前台灣最受觀迎之大型多人線上角色扮演遊戲「魔獸世界」(WOW)為案例,從玩家的遊戲參與動機、角色扮演與玩家性別等面向,探討其對於玩家行為的影響,整理出更完整的玩家行為類型架構,為線上遊戲的玩家行為研究開啟更多元的研究面向。

研究結果發現,在遊戲參與動機上,共區分出自我肯定與成就感、逃避宣洩、娛樂交友、角色扮演與幻想等四種動機。角色考量因素有操作使用、社交組隊、角色能力功能與角色外觀四個。玩家行為類型,則區分出殺手、探索發掘、社交領導、成就合作與成就競爭行為等五種類型。

玩家的遊戲參與動機會影響到玩家行為表現,不同的參與動機會有各自相對應的行為類型,其中以自我肯定與成就感動機影響最大,而遊戲參與動機跟玩家之角色選擇結果則大多沒有關連。

角色選擇因素會影響到玩家選擇角色性別、種族與職業這些角色屬性的偏好,而玩家所選擇的角色屬性,也會影響到玩家的行為表現,玩家會「扮誰,像誰」,某些特定的角色,也較容易表現出某些行為,其中又以角色職業的影響最大。

再者男女玩家的遊戲情況與偏好是大不相同的,且男性玩家會因為角色外型動機,而比女性玩家較常進行角色性別轉換。

The research of the player in the on-line game -Take “World of Warcraft “as an example

ABSTRACT

Flourishing development of the on-line game industry has brought a lot of social phenomena, and relevant inspiration of academic research and spread. But the correlative research of the on-line games still mostly probe into only superficial factors, such as motive, indulging in, loyalty, satisfaction, consumption will or behavior, etc. ‘The content ‘ to players' behavior and influencing elements of players’ behavior has not had deeper and complete discussions. This research takes the most popular MMORPG in Taiwan ‘WOW’ as a case, holding the factors from player’s motive, role playing and player's gender, etc. Understand its influence on players' behavior, and put in order out more complete structure of behavior type of the players. Open more plural aspects for the study of the behavior of players of the on-line games.

Four kinds of motives were found in the study which were participating in game, including self-affirmation and fulfillment, escape and unleashing, entertainment and friend-making, role playing and imagination, etc. The role selection elements involved operation, social contact and team-forming, role's ability functions and role's appearances. Player's behavior type, distinguish out five kinds, such as killer, exploring, social leader, achievement cooperation and achievement competing, etc.

The participating motives in games influence players’ behavior. Each behavior type corresponds in its participation motives, among them, self-affirmation and fulfillment is the most influential. The motives don’t have much connection with the role choosing.

The role selection elements influence the partiality of players’ choice of the role’s sex, race and job of, and players’ role choice also influences the player's behaviors. Players will do what the characters are supposed to do. Some specific roles are apt to demonstrate some behaviors.
Moreover, the game situation and the partiality of male and female players differ widely. More often, the male players change the role's gender for the appearance of the role than the female players do.
