雙城記(十日談完)

        初上法文課時，有一天是討論會，老師問，巴黎跟你們的城市有甚麼不一樣。許多同學說，巴黎人走路太急，總是匆匆忙忙的，不及我們老家的步調悠閒。連來自東京的千惠也是這麼說的。只有我叫嚷，不不，跟香港比起來，巴黎實在是慢得可以。

沒有去過香港的老師很專注地聽我說，在我的城生活如何爭分奪秒，甚麼都要比快，然後很認真地把我對巴黎的「異見」寫在黑板上，對她們法國人來說，巴黎當然不及南部閒適。

        就說科技潮流吧，巴黎尖端科技發展成熟，處處可無線上網，可是仍有很多低科技的空間，年輕人拿著舊款的手機，也不會感到追不上時代。有一家專門買賣二手家電的連鎖店，生意好得很。生活質素不是由一些先進產品界定的，潮流運轉的方程式是不斷循環再用，一代傳一代，不以淘汰為己任。有朋友常打趣說，帶著時款科技玩意來到巴黎，也不會給竊匪盯上，因為偷走了也是得物無所用。

我到一個法國家庭作客，七歲的小男孩拿著心愛玩具來跟我玩，那不過是幾張磁石貼紙，他可以玩很久，看著圖案編織故事，自得其樂。想起在香港的小外甥，滿屋玩具，電腦遊戲玩膩了很快又換新的，我不覺得法國孩子的童年不豐足。

        慢，其實是一種自信。不憂心落後，就不用氣急敗壞追趕，貪新厭舊。

        回家後的一個星期天下午，我在房間翻著書，爸媽在客廳聽著他們的時代曲，時間如陽光掩映，迷迷糊糊間我以為是在巴黎的房子裡。(雙城記之十)(12/08/2005)

I'm not sure if this is the right place to write to Chan Ning. I remember reading her articles on Charlie Chaplin in the HKET column a few weeks ago. Has Miss Chan ever read Charlie's autobiography? It is a very well-written and interesting book by the legend, and I have a copy to share with Miss Chan. If interested, please drop me a line.

Hi Jim, it's very nice of you to leave a message here. But I'm not sure if I'm the "Chan Ning" that you're looking for 'cos it's true that I did write about Charlie Chaplin in the HKET column but it was actually more than 1 year ago instead of "a few weeks ago". So I'm not sure if I'm entitled to that copy of Charlie's autobiography you mentioned. If you don't mind, would you pls send me the teletexts of those articles via email? or just give me the link to the website and I'll see if they belong to me. Thanks a lot.

在樂多查香港的資料意外闖了進來，貴格的文章優雅舒緩，不似印象中香港人那般匆忙急切，雙城記一路讀來收穫頗多 :)

I believe you are the only Chan Ning that wrote in HKET. It must be you then. Has it been over a year ago since then?
Pls advise if I should use another website to communicate with you as our subject of discussion doesn't align with this column at all.

是啊,巴黎人以一天作一件事為生活目標,真不知該羨慕他們還是討厭這樣的思考模式??
