copy Vs datafilecopy

Hi Tom,
   Could you help me understand the difference 
between RMAN copy command and datafile copy command

eg.
copy datafile 3 'd:\oracle\oradata\backup\users.dbf';

copy datafilecopy 'd:\oracle\oradta\users01.dbf' to 
'd:\oracle\oradata\backup\users.dbf';

thanks.





Followup: 

the first backs up a live datafile

the second backs up a copy of a datafile (that isn't live, eg: was made at the 
os level while the db was down or was made by rman before)
