別讓太陽發現你在哭泣...

1964年4月16日﹐Gerry & The Pacemakers 在英國發了第5張單曲﹐名為“Don’t Let The Sun”﹐這首歌曲只得到第6位而已﹐成績跟之前的單曲比較﹐是每況愈下﹐然而它在美國Billboard 得到第4位﹐是他們第一首受到美國歡迎的歌曲﹐這不單使到 How Do You Do It 及 I Like It 再發行﹐並且得到不俗的成績。

一個月後﹐EMI Columbia 就為 Gerry & Pacemakers 發行了第4張EP﹐收錄了“Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying ”單曲的 A/B Side﹐還有兩首“How Do You Do It”(1963/EMI Columbia) 的 Album Track。

在60年代發行唱片的 Schedule 其實是頗密集的﹐除了單曲之外﹐又會發EP﹐還有LP專輯﹐故此Gerry & Pacemakers 在1963年12月發行了You’ll Never Walk Alone EP之後﹐一月即發行全新單曲 I’m The One﹐但是到了2月﹐這兩首A/B Side 已加上兩首 Album Track ﹐便又成為了“I’m The One”EP 了。這張EP登上流行榜第15位。

1994年﹐Gloria Estefan 出版了一張很讚的翻唱專輯﹐當中便翻唱了 Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Carying﹐但是加入了”Trois Gymopedies”作為引子﹐是一首令人更細味的版本。

Show Me That You Care 也是Gerry Marsden 的創作﹐雖然是新曲﹐卻是濃濃的50年代Rockabiliy懷舊味道﹐可見他們的聲音屬60年代的英倫﹐但是骨子裡還是有其音樂根源。

Summertime 本是1935年George Gershwin 劇作“Porgy and Bess”的歌曲﹐旋律是根據Ukrainian 的搖籃曲Oi Khodyt Son Kolo Vikon (A Dream Passes By The Windows) 而寫成。 Gerry & The Pacemakers 的版本是 Rumba 節奏﹐非常特別﹐然而Summer Time 還有無數翻唱版本﹐筆者擁有的幾個 Cover Version 都各具特色﹐這包括了 Billie Holiday﹑Artie Shaw & The Gramercy Five 及 Rick Nelson。
