踏入70年代﹐Beatles 其實已是名存實亡﹐就在Paul McCartney 正式在1970年4月10日宣佈樂隊拆夥前﹐他們也在英美兩地發了最後一張全新單曲 Let It Be﹐但是實際上這首歌曲早在1969年已錄成﹐嚴格來說是60年代的歌曲。

Let It Be 其實屬於 Get Back Project 裡面的歌曲﹐它由 Paul McCartney 所寫﹐歌詞中的Mother Mary 是 Paul 的母親﹐她在14歲時就逝世了﹐不過有許多人也聯想為聖母瑪莉亞﹐而“I Wake Up To The Sound Of Music”則指 Paul 在夢中寫成的Yesterday﹐故此這首歌曲屬於 Paul McCartney 很個人感受的歌曲。Let It Be 在英國於1970年3月6日出版﹐登上英國流行榜第2位﹐至於美國方面要到3月11日才發行﹐卻是Billboard 兩星期冠軍歌曲。

Let It Be﹕此曲後來收錄於“Let It Be”(1970/Apple) 專輯中﹐不過那是經Phil Spector Remix 過的版本﹐到2004年﹐Paul McCartney 又為它發行了一個 Naked Version。

Let It Be 多年來也有無數 Cover Versions﹐不過連 Paul McCartney 也翻玩了一次﹐那是1987年3月﹐因為鄰近Belgium 的Zeebrugge 發生了輪船意外﹐導致193人死亡﹐於是由Paul McCartney 率領當時一眾樂壇猛人﹐組成 Ferry Aid 齊唱 Let It Be﹐作為籌款單曲﹐他們包括 Mark King (Level 42)﹑Bananarama﹑Boy George﹑Kim Wilde﹑Rick Astley﹑Kate Bush﹑Hazel Dean﹑Frankie Goes To Hollywood﹑Go West﹑Mark Knopfler﹑Curiosity Killed The Cat﹑Cutting Crew﹑Gary Moore 及Bonnie Tyler 等等。

Let It Be - Ferry Aid﹕原收錄於“Let It Be”(1987/The Sun/CBS) 單曲中﹐登上英國流行榜冠軍3星期。

Let It Be 的B Side 是You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)﹐這曲是 Paul 與 John 合作的錄音﹐當中的 Saxophone 片段由 Rolling Stones 的 Brian Jones 吹奏﹐可是歌曲灌錄完後便被擱置了﹐後來曾差點兒被 John 安排為 Plastic Ono Band 的 A Side 單曲﹐不過最後還是被保留為 Beatles 的歌曲﹐成為了 Let It Be 的 B Side。
