1969年4月11日﹐Beatles 發行了他們第19張單曲﹐名為 Get Back﹐這個時候可說是 Beatles 面臨樂隊的尾聲﹐而 Paul McCartney 與Linda Louise Eastman 於1969年3月12日共諧連理成婚﹐John Lennon 與 Yoko Ono 也於3月20日成婚。

其實自1967年灌錄 The Beatles (White Album) 的時候﹐Beatles 已是四分五裂﹐這套雙唱片中的作品﹐許多都不是 Full Team的錄音﹐Ringo Starr 因不滿不受重視而短暫離隊﹐部份歌曲由 Paul Mcarteny 打鼓取代。另外﹐因著經理人Brian Epstein 的離世﹐在聘請新經理人的時候﹐各成員的意見也顯得分歧。

1968年﹐Paul McCartney 提議把Beatles的新作以Live 形式發表﹐以表達樂隊回到早期的 Rock N Roll根源﹐同時也開始拍攝一套名為 Get Back 的電影﹐內容是有關他們採排及錄音的情況﹐可是當它開拍之後﹐經歷著重重困難﹐George Harrison 也曾聲言受不了 Paul McCartney 而短暫離隊﹐這個 Project甚至是速成了Beatles 拆夥﹐最後Get Back以 Apple Building 屋頂的一場演唱會結束﹐而這套零碎的電影就成為了日後的電影 Let It Be。

Get Back 由 Paul McCartney 所寫﹐在 Apple Building 屋頂演唱會中演唱的其中一曲。這歌加入 Billy Preston 的電子琴部份﹐在 Beatles 的唱片﹐也首次加入其他樂手的名字﹐故此單曲以 The Beatles with Billy Preston 名義出版。它在美國也是首張 Beatles 真正身歷聲錄音 (Stereo Recording) 的單曲﹐但是英國方面作然維持單聲道 Mono。Get Back 在英國於1969年4月11日出版﹐榮登英國流行榜5星期冠軍﹐至於美國方面要延遲到5月5日出版﹐也得到Billboard 5星期冠軍。

當歌曲收錄於“Let It Be”(1970/Apple) 專輯時﹐監制Phil Spector 混音時為了加強歌曲增添 Live Recording 的味道﹐故在歌曲前後加入了Beatles 在錄音室及屋頂演唱會的閒聊對話。

Get Back 經由無數樂手/歌手翻唱灌錄﹐其中尤以Tina Turner 經常演唱此曲﹐早在Ike & Tina Turner曾灌錄﹐其後也先後有跟 Rod Stewart及 Paul McCartney的 Live Version 流傳。

1982年﹐當 Tina Turner 的事業還未起死回生時﹐她曾為 Rod Stewart 擔任演唱會嘉賓﹐兩人在台上大唱 Get Back﹐不過這錄音沒有收錄於“Absolutely Live”(1982/Warner) Live Album 中﹐卻曾以 VHS 面世。至於 Rod Stewart 曾在70年代灌錄過﹐收錄於“All This and World War II”(1976/Riva) OST中。

1986年英國群星為了The Prince's Trust 而在Wembley Arena演出了All-Star Rock Concert﹐以紀念這個基金成立了10年﹐當時皇儲查爾斯與Diana 皇妃均有現在欣賞。最後一段由 Paul McCartney 的 Session 尤為精采﹐除了與 Tina Turner 對唱 Get Back之外﹐All Stars Band 的樂手/歌手包括 Elton John﹑Paul Young﹑Phil Collins﹑Mark King (Level 42)﹑Eric Clapton﹑Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) 及Sting 等。

Get Back 的 B Side 是Don’t Let Me Down﹐在美國Billboard 得到第35位﹐由 John Lennon 所作﹐這也是John 對Yoko Ono 表達愛意的歌曲﹐從歌詞可見﹐他對Yoko 的迷戀﹐從未在前妻Cynthia身上出現過﹐甚至歌詞中竟有I'm in love for the first time, Don't you know it's gonna last 出現。Billy Preston 也在此曲也作客席樂手彈電子琴及 Organ﹐故此這也是 The Beatles with Billy Preston 的歌曲。Don’t Let Me Down 也是屋頂演唱會表演的其中一首歌曲。
