1968年1 月﹐Beatles 成立了Apple Corps Ltd 以取替他們之前的 Beatles Ltd﹐這間多媒體公司包括了電子﹑電影﹑版權公司﹑服裝等﹐不過最重要乃是成立了 Apple Records﹐還有他們的錄音室。

自此之後﹐Apple 與 EMI簽下發行合約直到1975年﹐不過Apple 簽下的歌手﹐其錄音版權屬 Apple。至於 Beatles的唱片﹐也是使用 Apple 的 Logo 來出版﹐但錄音版權則歸 EMI 所有﹐MV版權則屬 Apple。於是1968年8月30日﹐Beatles 的全新單曲 Hey Jude 就由 Apple 來發行了﹐美國則提早了4天。

Hey Jude 由 Paul McCartney 所寫﹐主人翁 Jude 就是 John Lennon 的兒子 Julian Lennon。Cynthia 與 John Lennon 多年來的婚姻﹐其實出現了許多矛盾與問題﹐其中包括了婚外情。雖然有許多人曾告知Cynthia﹐其丈夫不時有外遇﹐可是她認為沒有證據的話﹐她就不會相信。1968年﹐John 從印度回國﹐竟然在酒醉後承認了多不勝數的風流事﹐然而 Cynthia 也就算數了。兩星期後 John 提議Cynthia 跟友人到希臘旅行﹐因為這時候他要專心製作 The Beatles (White Album) 專輯﹐然而因為 Cynthia 提早了一天 (5月22日) 回家﹐於是就把 John 與 Yoko 捉姦在床﹐這也直接導致他們離婚。

John 其實跟兒子的關係並不好﹐經常照顧 Julian 的﹐卻是 Paul McCartney﹐在 Cynthia 跟 John 離婚後﹐Paul 曾駕長途車去探望他們母子倆﹐車程中他就寫了這首本來是 Hey Jules 的歌曲。

長達7分零5秒的 Hey Jude﹐副歌比正歌還要長﹐單是那 Na Na Na的副歌就重覆了18次了。因為此曲對 Julian 極具重要性﹐故此1996年他以25000英鎊在拍賣行買了 Paul 當年這曲的錄音記事。Hey Jude 在英國得到兩星期冠軍﹐在美國 Billboard 更得到9星期冠軍﹐它也是有史以來﹐第一首這麼長的歌曲登上單曲榜榜首。

2002年新加坡女歌手孫燕姿出版了一張翻唱專輯“Start”(2002/華納)﹐其中一首便是翻唱 Hey Jude﹐使到這首歌曲在亞洲再一次為年輕的樂迷認識。

Hey Jude 的 B Side 是Revolution﹐由 John Lennon 所作。這首歌分為3個版本﹐分別是單曲 Revolution及在 The Beatles (White Album) (1968/Apple) 專輯中的 Revolution 1 和 Revolution 9。Revolution 單曲版取得美國Billboard第12位。

Revolution 也有許多翻唱版本﹐其中一個著名但不成功版本乃是 Thompson Twins﹐他們在 1985年 Live Aid 首唱﹐之後再到錄下 Studio Version。這版本得到英國流行榜第56位。
