1964年﹐The Beatles拍了首部電影 A Hard Day’s Night﹐在英國只有兩首歌曲作單曲發行﹐其餘插曲只收錄在 Beatles 的 “A Hard Day’s Night”(1964/Parlophone) 專輯而已﹐不過在美國﹐合約規定該批歌曲由 United Artists 出版 OST﹐但除此之外﹐不包括其他 Format﹐於是 Capitol 就根據電影中的插曲﹐發出連串單曲唱片﹐然後再收錄於“Something New“(1964/Capitol) 專輯中。

8首歌曲中﹐Can’t Buy Me Love 本不是插曲﹐只是作單曲發行後才被選用﹐之後 Capitol 在7月13日發行了 A Hard Day’s Night / I Should Have Know Better﹐然後在8月11日電影在美國公映之前﹐也發了兩張單曲﹐這包括了四首歌曲﹐只剩下 Tell Me Why 沒有成為單曲。

I’ll Cry Instead 於7月20日發行﹐由 John Lennon主唱﹐而 B Side 的I’m Happy Just To Dance With You 則是 George Harrison 主唱的歌曲。前者風格非常 Country Style﹐不過導演Richard Lester 最後寧捨去此曲﹐而換上用了 Can’t Buy Me Love﹐而 I’ll Cry Instead 登上 Billboard 第25位。至於 B Side 的I’m Happy Just To Dance With You﹐只得到 Billboard 第95位。

另一首取自 A Hard Day’s Night 插曲的單曲是 And I Love Her﹐其背面是 If I Fell﹐這是 Beatles 早期的突破﹐他們很少以兩首 Ballad 作為單曲的A/B Side﹐屬首次嘗試。And I Love Her 由 Paul McCartney 所作﹐登上 Billboard 第12位﹔它幾乎99% 屬Acoustic﹐是一首聽起來很舒服﹑很動人的情歌﹐有無數歌星喜愛它﹐聽說翻唱的版本超過400首。而 If I Fell 由 John Lennon所作﹐這也是他寫 Ballad 的新嘗試﹐此曲打入 Billboard 第53位。
