最近因為一張 April Love OST又再度把保存多年的電影錄影帶找出來重溫。

首次看 April Love已是許多年前的事﹐不過對故事仍留有印象。那個時候對50年代的西洋歌曲著迷﹐也會因為要聽這些老歌﹐而遲遲不上床睡覺﹐為的是要把一些懷舊歌曲節目錄下來﹐那個時候著迷的“音樂人音樂廳之黃金的年代” 及“輕談淺唱不夜天”。同期也購買了許多舊歌唱片﹐這包括了 Elvis Presley﹑Ricky Nelson﹑Paul Anka及 Pat Boone等。

記得當時節目主持人形容﹐這四人是50年代美國的四大天王﹐但是四人之中以 Elvis的唱片最多﹐而且最容易找。其實四人各有魅力﹐Paul Anka能寫能唱﹐極具創作才華﹔Ricky Nelson帥得要命﹐不過市面上能找到的唱片不多﹔Elvis則是狂野反叛形﹐但 Pat Bonne則是家庭式的住家男人。然雖 Elvis 的 Rock N Roll 聽起來很醒神﹐不過筆者對 Pat Boone 那中低音就著迷不已﹐也曾學著他的唱腔唱 April Love 及 Love Letters In The Sand。

Pat Boone是美國家傳戶曉的名字﹐不過論受歡迎程度始終次於 Elvis。他出的唱片不少﹐簽約 Dot ﹐其後被 MCA收購﹐至今已成為 Universal的錄音了﹐然而他的唱片被再版的機會不多﹐一直都給唱片公司遺忘﹐而且來來去去都是那幾首歌的精選。Pat Boone的形像非常正派健康﹐是一名虔誠的基督徒﹐早在19歲未走紅時已與 Shirley Foley結婚﹐而當他成為眾樂迷的青春偶像時﹐他也毫不掩飾為已婚男人﹐故此樂迷對這位擁有兩女兒的幸福男人完全接受﹐歌迷甚至會在Banner上寫著 We Like Shirley Too! 的字樣。Pat Boone除了灌錄唱片﹐也拍電影﹐不過筆者欣賞過的就只有 April Love (1957) 及 Journey To The Center Of The Earth (1959) 而已。

最近英國Sepia出版了一張公版錄音CD﹐當中便包括了April Love與Tammy And The Bachelor (1957) 的 OST。April Love 當年在英美兩地分別由 Dot 及 London 出版﹐而Tammy And The Bachelor則是跟 Interlude 一併收錄於同一張 Coral 的 OST中。這次Sepia 把 April Love 與 Tammy And The Bachelor 的 OST 復刻於同一張CD中﹐並且還附加 April Love 的唱片版及4首 Debbie Reynolds 的歌曲。雖然未曾看過 Tammy And The Bachelor﹐但是對主題曲 Tammy一點都不陌生。此曲又把筆者帶返到 Radio Days的年代﹐令人好生懷念。
