60年代中期﹐一方面受到英國 Beatles熱潮的影響﹐另一方面﹐Elvis也過度集中精神在電影方面發展﹐可惜的是電影與插曲的水準平平﹐使到他的音樂事業停滯不前﹐其後他又從他的音樂根源發展﹐灌錄很多的福音 (Gospel) 及鄉謠 (Country) 音樂。

1968年以現場演唱方式拍攝NBC電視的68 Come Back Special獲得空前成功﹐又使他進一步循Las Vegas式現場演唱方向發展﹐1973年更以人造衛星轉播Aloha From Hawaii演唱會傳送到20多個國家電視轉播。1969年到1977年死前兩個月﹐在美國全國巡迴演唱更多達1094場。

60年代末期開始﹐ Elvis演唱了無數人家的成名歌曲﹐如You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me (Dusty Springfild), My Way (Frank Sinatra), You’ll Never Walk Alone (音樂劇Carousel插曲), Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkel), What’d I Say (Ray Charles), Help Me Make It Through The Night (Peak Bill)等﹐雖然他在處理歌曲時﹐以獨特的風格演唱﹐但是筆者仍是較喜愛他的原唱歌曲。

Elvis生前錄下過千歌曲﹐所以自他逝世後﹐唱片公司一直未停止過發行一些未曾發表過的歌曲或Alternative Version﹐不同的國家也在每月份出版不同的精選唱片﹐1982年藉著 Stars On 45的Medley概念﹐RCA便把Elvis數首歌曲 (包括Jailhouse Rock, Teddy Bear, Hound Dog, Don’t Be Cruel, Burning Love及Suspicious Mind) 混音作為一首Elvis Medley當作新曲發表﹐ 2002年RCA又分別找來Junkie XL 為Elvis的舊歌A Little Less Conversation及Paul Oakenfield 為Rubberneckin' 重新混音﹐一下子Elvis的音樂又重新復活過來﹐貓王的音樂橫跨6個年代﹐兩個世紀﹐不愧為一代Legend。


Suspicious Mind: 1969年的歌曲﹐也是Elvis生前最後一張美國冠軍單曲。

Always On My Mind: 此曲於1972年作單曲發行﹐在鄉謠榜登上第10位﹐但在Billboard Single Chart卻未能打進百名之內。1982年卻讓鄉謠歌手Willie Nelson唱紅起來﹐打進美國單曲榜第5位﹐翌年香港即有關正傑及黃露儀的粵語版“常在我心間.. 愛你不分早晚”。1987年更有Pet Shop Boys強勁的跳舞版打進英國流行榜第1位及美國單曲榜第4位。
