.......其實，我個人覺得江玲的音色或歌喉並不是有甚麼獨特之處，只是喜歡她帶點柔軟及懶洋洋的唱功 。從我在上文列出她曾灌錄的歌曲名稱，已可知絕大部份都是翻唱別人的。較特別的是有部份歌曲以中英歌詞夾雜，即先唱英詞，中或後段唱粵或國語。這類歌曲有South Pacific Twist (陳任在港台的"Sunday任你點"節目常有播放)、One Way Ticket、Theme For A Dream、More Than I Can Say及一些聖誕歌等，我猜測這樣的奇特安排，可能是為兼容當時六十年代，不少的本地不懂英語聽眾而設。 為何擁有"Diamond" label的環球唱片或其它的唱片公司沒有把大部份的江玲黑膠歌曲以CD形式再版？根據我可獲得的"有限"資料顯示，只有一首More Than I Can Say多年前在寶麗金(Polygram)的壹兩張本地歌手及樂隊英文歌曲雜錦精選CD出現過，(這點如有錯漏，敬請各有識網友指正)。除了有關唱片公司的市場考慮外，我估計其原因可能是錄音的母帶已遺失、嚴重損壞或損耗，致未能把一些其它受歡迎的歌曲以CD形式推出。遲點再把江玲的個人資料與各網友分享吧！抄載及摘錄自Theme For A Dream夢裡喜相逢LP封套背面的江玲個人資料，中英雙語並存。

Kong Ling started singing in Singapore in 1954, and was in great demand when she returned to Hong Kong. She was the first singer to be featured in three separate night clubs every evening. This earned for her the nickname "Hong Kong Singing Sweetheart".

One evening while Kong Ling was singing in one of the more popular Kowloon night-spots, Arthur Godfrey dropped in. He was visibly impressed and there and then decided to sign Kong Ling to appear on his television series. To Kong Ling this a dream come true.

Kong Ling is single, twenty-six, charming and very eligible. Her lobbies include movies, dancing, records and sports cars. She would like to become a "very good singer and a very good wife".

「江玲」歌唱生涯開始於星加坡，那是一九五四年的時間，其後當她回到香港時，來邀請她去幫忙的信件，有如雪片飛來，而目前她已是三間著名夜總會的紅歌星，雖然每夜奔走三處不同的地方，但是她仍能勝任愉快，那是芸芸歌星中最難能可貴的一位了，因此她的綽號就給人名為「香港甜心歌星」。

江玲的歌唱天才是偶然為人發掘出來的，當時鑽石唱片公司的主理人，偶然涉足於九龍某著名夜總會，聽到「江玲」一曲高歌後，認為歌喉是那樣的美妙，嗓子又那麼迷人，是一位難得之才，因此就進行和她商量，希望她能為他的唱片公司效勞，在江玲方面，這是她多年夢想難求，而成為實現的一天，這才奠定了她日後的事業基礎。

江玲年華廿六，明媚動人而又是天才橫溢的一位歌唱家，真是才貌雙全的一位可人兒，她的愛好是電影、跳舞和搜集唱片，平時更喜歡駕駛那心愛的跑車到處遨遊，她的志願是希望成為一位好歌星及一位好主婦。

Twenty-five year-old Kong Ling, who's real name is Kong Yan Lai, is a modern day Cinderella. Ever since she was a little girl, Kong Ling loved singing but never thought of it as a career until she won an inter-school competition in 1951 with the song "Congratulations". Since that wonderful day, this talented Oriental thrush has continuously been showered with compliments.

Kong Ling made her professional debut in 1954 and after a series of local engagements toured Singapore for nine months. She was so successful that when she returned to Hong Kong she became the most sought after singer. This charmer was in such great demand that she became the first artist in the Colony to be featured in three separate night-clubs every evening. She is known as the "Sweetheart of Hong Kong" and this tribute is understandable as a few tracks of this record will clearly indicate her versatility.

Kong Ling's popularity is not restricted to night-spots. She also appears in various radio and television shows and is always ready to make personal appearances at charity performances. This is her first attempt at recording in English and the result is something she can be proud of. Arthur Godfrey heard her perform and was, so fascinated that he invited her to appear on his Television show (by the time you read this Kong Ling has probably appeared in Godfrey's show).

Besides being a very successful singer Kong Ling enjoys listening to records, dancing, movies and sports cars. When asked what her ambition was, she shyly replied: "I would like to become a very good singer and a very good wife".

我喜歡江玲不單是因為小時候家裡有那張 Off-Beat Cha Cha 所種下的情意結﹐而是多年前買來那張夢裡喜相逢﹐除了很喜歡 More Than I Can Say﹑Theme For A Dream 外﹐最喜歡是那首 Portrait Of My Love﹐她那種溫婉的唱法﹐加上那編曲﹐真是讚。雖然我有一些朋友說她的口音有點怪怪的﹐但是我聽過她的一個電台訪問﹐她讀書不多﹐但是那個年代能唱英文歌的華人歌星﹐又有幾人﹖而且從訪問中﹐發覺她的回答很實際﹐態度又很謙虛﹐這更令我欣賞她。雖然現在電台經常捧高她與 Fabulous Echoes 合作風兩張大碟﹐但是細心聽之下﹐其實Off-Beat Cha Cha及夢裡喜相逢才是比較細緻之作。早期飛利浦的國語歌曲錄音﹐演唱技巧還有點嫰﹐而後期的那種60年代Band Sound 根本不能突出她聲音特別之處﹐所以我是較愛那種50年代風格。另外推介飛行浦時代的“我愛你”。

Just a little bit of information about Kong Ling. As far as my memory serves me correctly, Kong Ling married a school principal in the 1960s by the surname of Lim whose father was the school manager. I was studying at that college in the early 1970s, and students there knew that the school principal’s wife was a popular singer.

Hope that this information can help the guy who responded to Eddie Ho and said in another blog that Kong Ling might be her/his best friend's mother.

雖然唱片上或其封套上沒有印出灌錄的年份，但這張由Norman Cheng鄭東漢監製及編曲的Kong Ling Today，我相信是在1968年出版的。因為LP內有幾首的歌曲，都是被當時鑽石唱片其他的合約歌手在先前已灌錄出版。這些歌曲有Teddy Robin & The Playboys的I Can't Grow Peaches On A Cherry Tree及(I Dreamed Of You)Last Night，Joe Junior的Here's A Heart，Sam Hui & The Lotus的Spoonful Of Sugar。我奇怪這樣的選曲安排構思，是否是為配合當時的市場需要而作出的？

我想你所說的出版年份是對的﹐不過我記得聽過一個江玲的電台訪問﹐她說那時候她已結了婚﹐沒再唱了。那應是較早前錄好的﹐然後後來唱片公司才出版的﹐所以灌錄的年份可能會比較早。

不過她最後的兩張唱片﹐我覺得選曲方便很爛﹐完全不適合她的風格。感覺她應比較50年代較典雅的路線﹐這種近乎60年代年青口味或民歌式的歌曲﹐她唱起來就是怪怪的。

我接下來會介紹她的唱片﹐請問你可以把這張Kong Ling Today 的照片EMAIL 如我嗎﹖不過我需要的是一個沒有畫花的版本 (Clean Version)﹐可以嗎﹖謝謝你﹐不然我就只好用我現有的圖片﹐不過效果比較差。

江玲也是我喜歡的歌手之一。雖説初聼她的歌曲，印象不深，但是她那種自然流露的唱腔，經過一段時間去咀嚼，你就會發現它的妙不可言。江玲是在星馬演唱而打下事業基礎；當年的紅歌星如崔萍、方靜音、靜婷，都是先在星馬走埠演唱，後來才紅囘香港。不管是電影，還是時代曲，當年的星架坡和馬來亞是最龐大的市場。江玲最早期在飛利浦灌錄的時代曲，曾經聼過不少，有的是中詞西曲，有的是原創；她的歌聲還是一貫“淡淡得”，不是淡而無味，反而是一種平凡自然的境界。那首改編自Rico Vacilon的中詞西曲，則是我印象最深刻的歌曲，她唱來斯文中帶三分調皮，好象淑女在跳恰恰。与當年差不多同樣路綫的方逸華和潘迪華比起來，我就覺得江玲有種難得的青春甜美，這種天然的少女味道，他人怎麽也學不來！

其實我不是很懂唱腔之類的東西,不過聽江玲的歌真的很舒服,她好像用'輕聲細訴'的方式,就把就些歌曲不費力的唱出來了,甜甜的很好聽~
但是唱歌是一門學問,都要下很多功夫的吧!?
