離離合合多次﹐自1981年的 Central Park 復合﹐這一次算是另一次盛大的 Reunion了﹐他們是 Simon & Garfunkel。

來自2003年12月的Simon and Garfunkel's Old Friends Tour﹐一對幾十年的朋友﹐相隔廿年的合作帶來首首經典的作品。I’m A Rock﹑Scarborough Fair﹑Homeward Bound﹑Sound Of Silence﹑Mrs Robinson﹑El Condor Pasa﹑Bridge Over Troubled Water﹑Cecila 及 The Boxer等﹐一一奉上。經歷過60/70年代的樂迷﹐那個不會哼幾句。

畢竟歲月不饒人﹐Paul Simon 與 Art Garfunkel都老了﹐有時他們氣不夠﹐有時也有走音﹐甚至乎合唱時﹐大家的板位也不同﹐出現了不合拍的情況﹐尤其一些節奏感較重的歌曲﹐這情況更見嚴重。他們的老態﹐實在令筆者也會驚覺自己的年紀。看這類的音樂會﹐在香港來說就是懷舊﹐尤其觀眾們﹐大都是因為他們的歌曲曾經陪伴成長﹐一個晚上就讓大家回到幾十年前的青蔥歲月﹐算起來是很超值的。

Simon & Garfunkel 真正走紅合作的歲月不長﹐在7年之間﹐發了5張專輯﹑一張OST﹐重覆的歌曲也頗多﹐不過就是幾張專輯的歌曲﹐令他們一躍成為巨星﹐帶動個人單飛的音樂事業幾十年。之後兩人發的個人專輯都不少﹐不過到這時候就何不回到起初的合作﹐懷懷舊之餘﹐也可挖挖老本了。

一般來說﹐在樂壇經過一段時間的浸淫﹐雙方都成熟了﹐合作可能更見默契﹐演奏也更有技術﹐再加上先進的科技﹐記錄下影像與聲音的軌跡﹐這些金曲音樂會都會令人覺得是享受﹐不過這個 Simon & Gargunkel Old Friends Tour也實在老過頭了﹐除了聽到熟識的旋律之外﹐本來完美的合音都出現不復當年之感﹐甚至歌曲本來明快節奏都變得拖拖拉拉了。Paul過於誇張的動作﹐包括那些蘭花手也令人有奇怪之感。至於Art Garfunkel那屬乎天籟聲音﹐也不能 Handle “Bridge Over Troubled Water”了。

Simon & Garfunkel 當年的偶像是 50年代紅透半邊天的 Everly Brothers﹐這對蠻生兄弟的合音﹐不僅影響樂壇的轉變﹐也深深改變這兩位同學的命運﹐首張單曲 Hey Schoolgirl根本是Everly Brothers歌曲的變調﹐過往在Simon & Garfunkel專輯唱過 Bye Bye Love﹐幾乎強搶了成為自己的歌曲﹐而這一次 2003 Tour﹐他們就邀請了Everly Brothers 作為嘉賓。Everly Brothers 演唱了Wake Up Little Susie 及 All I Have To Do Is Dream﹐也跟 Simon & Garfunkel合唱了 Bye Bye Love﹐不過這對老前輩在演唱自己更舊的首本歌曲時﹐還沒有Simon & Garfunkel那麼走樣﹐而且結他還是那麼有勁度。

雖然如此﹐如果你喜愛60年代Folk Rock﹐如果你曾是S&G的歌迷﹐大概你一面看時﹐也會如畫面中的觀眾﹐一齊投入地與S&G合唱吧。這張Old Friends Live on Stage (Deluxe Edition)﹐包括了兩張 Live Recording CD及一張 DVD﹐縱使CD與DVD收錄的歌曲有差別﹐不過以現今樂迷都著重視覺效果的音樂﹐那幾乎是買DVD送CD而已。CD 包括了 2004年 Simon & Garfunkel 全新歌曲Citizen of the Planet。而DVD 除了演唱會記錄之外﹐在 Extra Clips 中收錄了 7 首 1970年的TV Appearance﹐非常珍貴。是的﹐這就是我們當年聽到看到﹑極具水準的 Simon & Garfunkel 了。
