每次拿起 Muriel’s Wedding的 OST時﹐總會聯想起Adventure Of Priscilla, Queen Of Desert﹐或者因為兩者都是同期的澳洲電影﹐而且也借用 ABBA的歌曲作為題材及配樂﹐兩者又用上了不少70年代音樂﹐仿似是那個年代的雜錦精選唱片﹐故此每次我都會把兩者相題並論。

Muriel’s Wedding跟Adventure Of Priscilla, Queen Of Desert 比較﹐我偏愛前者﹐或者因為當中好幾首純音樂﹐都是從 ABBA 歌曲改編﹐加入了新意﹐而後者只是張雜錦唱片而已。若不是這 OST﹐筆者也不曾想過 Dancing Queen 竟可那麼像婚禮序曲﹐而且實在華麗極了。另一方面﹐每次聽 ABBA 精選都會有點沉悶的感覺﹐可能歌曲太耳熟能詳吧﹐所以既然這套電影用了那麼多 ABBA 歌曲﹐又不要淪為另一張 ABBA 精選﹐那麼挑選其他好歌加入就非常重要了﹐以下幾首﹐筆者尤其喜歡。

The Rubettes的 Sugar Baby Love曾是筆者70年代鍾愛的歌曲﹐可是卻把歌名及樂隊都遺忘了﹐所以首次從這 OST聽到此曲時﹐實在太驚喜了。來自英國的The Rubettes首張單曲 Sugar Baby Love (1974/Polydor) 即受到樂迷歡迎﹐在英國流行榜得到4星期冠軍﹐可惜之後的歌曲﹐成績每況愈下﹐而此曲也是打上美國 Billboard流行榜唯一一曲﹐得到第37位。當你跟著他們以假聲唱著歌曲時那 Ah….. ﹐那感覺會是很有趣的。

Carpenters木匠樂團﹐乃由兄妹 Richard Carpenter及 Karen Carpenter組成﹐他們的歌曲是70年代音樂的一個標記。Carpenters 的歌曲甚少出現於電影原聲帶中﹐We’re Only Just Begun (1970/A&M) 實屬異數﹐此曲乃是他們第2首上榜歌曲﹐得到美國 Billboard 4星期第2及英國流行榜第28位。是的﹐當時他們的音樂事業才開始﹐Carpenters’ Only Just Begun ﹐不過那是近40年前的事了﹐而 Karen也於1983年離世﹐她的聲音一直令人懷念。

The Tide Is High原是The Paragons的單曲 (1967/Jet)﹐可是並未受到樂迷垂青﹐直到 Blondie (1980/Chrysalis) 翻唱﹐即把歌曲推上美國 Billboard冠軍位置﹐在英國更成冠達兩星期﹐Blondie的主音 Debbie Harry乃是70年代的性感標記。

Dusty Springfield給筆者最深刻印象是 You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me (1966/Philips)﹐還有跟 Pet Shop Boys的 Crossover合作“What Have I Done To Deserved This”(1987/Parlophone)﹐尚有代替 Karen Carptener死後跟 Richard Carpenter合作的 Something In Your Eyes (1987/A&M)。I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself (1964/Philips) 是她早期的單曲﹐得到英國流行榜第3位。此曲原唱是 Tommy Hunt﹐乃是單曲 And I Never Knew (1962/Scepter) 的 B Side。至於創作人Burt Bacharach與 Hal David是60年代的天作之合拍擋。

來自 Los Angles的The Turtles ﹐走紅於60年代﹐樂團壽命不長﹐不過 Happy Together (1967/White Whale) 卻是他們的代表作﹐得到美國 Billboard 3星期冠軍。Happy Together在英國由 London出版﹐得到英國流行榜第12位。1997年香港導演王家衛找來鍾定一 Danny Chung 翻唱 (1997/滾石)﹐成為其電影“春光乍洩” 的主題曲﹐故此筆者印象中 Happy Together似乎也跟同志有不可分割的關係。
