1979年 ABBA預備作歐洲及北美的巡迴演唱﹐於是在10月也來為他們的歌曲作第2個總結﹐推出“ABBA Greatest Hits Vol.2”(1979/Polydor) 精選輯﹐同時也發行全新單曲 Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)。

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! 在英國及德國成為流行榜季軍歌曲﹐歐洲方面在比利時﹑芬蘭﹑法國﹑愛爾蘭及瑞士均成為冠軍歌曲。而澳洲及新西蘭分別得到第8及第15位﹐至於老家瑞典則攀到第16位。筆者認識此曲較遲﹐應該是在 ABBA Gold (1992/Polydor) 精選時期吧﹐可是不太注意﹐然而後來 Madonna Sampling此曲成為 Hung Up後﹐筆者的喜愛程度可說是愛不釋手。

距離千禧不遠﹐瑞典年輕組合A*Teens出版了一張向 ABBA致敬的專輯“The ABBA Generation”(1999/Stockholm)﹐ 翻唱了11首 ABBA大熱金曲﹐頗受歡迎﹐當中包括了Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!﹐演繹不算理想﹐不過此曲實在寫得太好了﹐所以A*Teens 翻唱也不太走樣。A*Teens 的版本也作單曲發行﹐在瑞典取得第10位。

A*Teens 雖然翻唱Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! 成功﹐然而中國人說“薑是越老越辣”﹐ 還是 Madonna厲害﹐她把Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! 以 Sampling方式用於其單曲 Hung Up中﹐使她的音樂業事帶上另一個高潮﹐此曲更在全世界超過30個國家成冠。
