1977年底ABBA發行他們第5張專輯“ABBA - The Album”﹐ 然而從中抽取第二支單曲已是1978年的事了﹐該張單曲名為Take A Chance On Me。

Take A Chance On Me的創作靈感來自Benny Andersson﹐事緣他喜歡跑步﹐每當他跑步時﹐總不禁反覆吟唱“tck-a-ch”的節奏﹐於是也成為了歌曲的前奏 Take A Chance ﹐筆者覺得把人聲唱到像機器聲音的感覺很有趣。此曲又是英國流行榜冠軍歌﹐並且停留達3星期﹔而美國也得到第3位﹐這也是他們在美國第二張最成功的單曲﹔歐洲方面﹐在奧地利﹑比利時﹑愛爾蘭均成冠﹐德國方面也得到第3 ﹔至於澳洲及新西蘭則分別取得第12及第14。

相隔多年﹐Erasure也曾翻唱並向 ABBA致敬﹐推出“Abba-esque”(1992/Mute/Elektra) EP中﹐當中便收錄了Take A Chance On Me﹐不過筆者覺得此曲同志味太重﹐加上MV刻意設計﹐感覺像看電影“The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)。“Abba-esque” 在英國流行榜稱冠達5星期。
