踏入1976年﹐ABBA發行了首張精選﹐作為他們第一階段的總結﹐這時候除了計劃下一張專輯“Arrival”外﹐也推出了一首非為專輯而灌錄的單曲“Fernando (There Was Something In The Air That Night)”。

Fernando本來是 ABBA主音Anni-Frid Lyngstad的個人歌曲﹐雖然由 ABBA成員創作﹐然而那是瑞典語版﹐收錄於她的“Frida ensam”(1975/Polar) 專輯中﹐也是 Frida個人首張瑞典語單曲﹐並且厲害地成為是瑞典流行榜10星期冠軍。因為此曲太受歡迎﹐故此後來樂團還是灌唱了屬於ABBA的英語版﹐這首單曲在德國﹑英國﹑愛爾蘭﹑新西蘭及澳洲等11個國家均是冠軍歌﹐在澳洲更是14星期連冠。而在老家瑞典並沒有因為 Frida的個人版本太受歡迎面備受冷落﹐在流行榜上也得到第2 ﹐至於在美國 Billboard也取得第13位。

Fernando也曾在某些國家被收錄於“ABBA Greatest Hits”(1976/Polar) 中﹐也有些卻收錄於“Arrival”(1976/Polar) 專輯中。記憶中 Fernando曾於70年代被改編為 National樂聲牌電器的廣告歌﹐而且還是由ABBA親自亮相的。筆者已忘記了廣告歌的歌詞﹐但最深刻就是 Fernando一句被改為 National。
