1974年 ABBA再以 Waterloo一曲參賽Eurovision Song Contest﹐終憑此曲在國際賽中取得冠軍﹐而且為樂團帶來成功的開始。

Waterloo本來以瑞典語灌錄﹐在ABBA贏取Eurovision Song Contest 當天﹐唱片公司即在他們老家出版該瑞典語版本單曲﹐並取得瑞典流行榜第2位。之後的英語版則橫掃15國流行榜的 Top 10﹐而愛爾蘭﹑比利時﹑芬蘭﹑挪威﹑瑞士﹑德國及南非皆取得流行榜冠軍寶座﹐可是這版本在瑞典只取得第3而已。ABBA 也從 Waterloo 開始﹐在英美更換唱片公司 Epic 及 Atlantic﹐成績比過往要好許多了﹐在英國首次得到冠軍單曲﹐而美國方面也晉身 Top 10﹐得到Billboard 第6位﹐此曲也是他們正式使用 ABBA為名的單曲。

在 Waterloo 英語版出版前﹐除了瑞典語版外﹐ABBA 也灌錄了德語版﹐其後又在英語版推出後﹐為法國灌錄法語版。
