在 Disco 大行其道的時候﹐除了有新作之外﹐也有許多人會向舊歌打主意﹐一些經典的名字﹐當然會被首當其衝﹐而經典的名字當然要包括 Beatles 了。

記得1979年購買香港寶麗金出版的一套雙唱片精選“雄霸樂壇寶麗金 Gold Disc ’77-‘79”時﹐對於一首名為 Discobeatlemania 的歌曲感到很好奇﹐因為那套美名為金唱片精選的合輯﹐所有歌曲都是在寶麗金名下於1977-1979年間在香港得到金唱片的專輯中抽出來的﹐可是演唱者 D.B.M. 的名字甚為陌生﹐而且也不覺得此曲曾於香港流行。後來才發現原來那首歌被收錄的原因﹐乃是它曾出現於“Super Disco Hits”(1979/Polydor) 的精選合輯中﹐而“Super Disco Hits”則得到1979年香港白金唱片﹐故此原來是有點取巧﹐不過當時筆者首次聽﹐便已經很喜歡了。

既然名為 Discobeatlemania﹐就是把 Beatles 的歌曲 Disco 化﹐而且還是一首串燒歌曲。然而翻查誰是 D.B.M. ﹐卻得不到甚麼資料﹐這只是DiscoBeatleMania的簡稱而已。年前找到該張單曲﹐由香港 Polydor發行﹐發現唱片註明由 Hyam Saban給 H.S. Records製作﹐故此 Polydor只屬代理而已﹐但再在網路上翻查資料﹐卻發現此曲在英國則由 Atlantic發行﹐並且曾攀到英國流行榜第45位﹐真不曉得這樣的成績還算不算是 One Hit Wonder了。

其實D.B.M. 演唱 Beatles歌曲時﹐在聲線上還頗有 Beatles的影子的﹐而且把數首名曲串在一起時﹐也非常流暢﹐算是一首不錯聽的冷門單曲吧。
