Muzikland

來自70年代末的一隊男子組合﹐成員有著不同的扮相﹐有警長﹑猶長﹑修路工人﹑電單車手﹑甚至還有水手﹐都是一些力量的化身﹐組成於1977年﹐成員包括Randy Jones﹑ David Hodo﹑Felipe Rose﹑Victor Willis﹑Glenn Hughes 及 Alex Briley﹐他們就是 Village People。

Village People的意念來自唱片監制Jacques Morali及Henri Belolo﹐他希望組成一隊在服裝及型像上有特色﹐並且可吸引一班同志樂迷﹐於是他以 Victor Willis為首作為主音﹐並且三人擔任樂團的創作人。首張單曲 San Francisco (You Got Me) 首先打進英國市場﹐得到第45位﹐翌年第二張單曲 Macho Man回流到美國﹐打入 Billboard第25位﹐之後的 YMCA不單是他們流行榜最成功的單曲﹐也成為 Disco的經典。其後的 In The Navy及 Go West依然在流行榜得到不錯的成績﹐可是1979年正當樂團在事業高峰之際﹐也在他們拍攝電影 Can’t Stop The Music 期間﹐Victor 宣佈離團﹐於是Village People 也因為拍了爛片Can’t Stop The Music﹐致使樂團事業也隨之下滑。

Can’t Stop The Music屬於1980年的電影製作﹐筆者並沒有欣賞過﹐不過據說是一套爛片﹐當時友人借了一盒原聲帶卡帶給我﹐可是除了一兩首 Village People的歌曲外﹐其他歌曲實在不是我的杯中茶。更有趣是友人跟我說﹐那卡帶聽完後不用還了﹐雖然我至今仍把它完好保存﹐不過多年來差不多沒有再重溫過。
