筆者聽音樂已經有許多年了﹐然而因著唱片的 Format 改朝換代﹐從購買唱片到轉買CD的過程中﹐也曾經有一個小小斷層﹐就是因為越來越少聽黑膠﹐其後唱盤壞了﹐以致好些歌曲都遺忘了﹐直到唱片公司想到為這些歌曲發行CD﹐筆者才可再“重拾舊歡”﹐ 這些舊歡中有 Boney M。

Boney M 的歌曲曾經絕版過好一陣子﹐後來唱片公司首次發行他們的新精選CD﹐筆者才可重溫這些經典歌曲。1992年BMG代理了 Hansa發行了這張名為 Gold的精選盤﹐收錄了19首金曲及一首 Medley Mega Mix。

Boney M發行了第5張專輯Boonoonoonoos 後﹐真的沉寂了﹐成員之一Bobby Farrell因為工作態度問題﹐被樂團辭退了﹐而這張專輯銷售量也不理想。Reggie Tsiboe成為了新的男成員﹐可惜往後的單曲及專輯可說是一蟹不如一蟹﹐Ten Thousand Lightyears (1984/Hansa) 專輯更創銷售量新低。1984年底Bobby Farrell 重返 Boney M﹐單曲Kalimba de Luna及Happy Song重回德國流行榜20大﹐可惜自 We Kill The World之後﹐他們再沒有全新歌曲打入英國流行榜了﹐而Farian對 Boney M也告失去興趣了。於是1986年 Boney M慶祝組團10年後﹐便正式宣告解散。雖然他們之後也曾計劃重組﹐可惜離離合合終沒有半點成績﹐最有趣是 Liz Mitchell﹑Marcia Barrett及Bobby Farrell各有自家的 Boney M﹐然而只有Liz Mitchell的一隊才獲得Farian 的支持。

筆者聽 Boney M的歌曲可說是從Boonoonoonoos 劃下了終止符﹐其後的單曲及專輯﹐除了 Happy Song 外﹐均沒有留意了。其實後期的 Boney M 歌曲﹐已失去了其獨特風格﹐Happy Song 也屬翻唱歌曲﹐若沒有註明﹐根本與80年代的 Euro-Beat 歌曲分別不大﹐聽眾也不會留意到這是 Boney M 的歌曲。

Happy Song﹕此曲在德國得到第7位﹐原是 Baby’s Gang (1984/Memory) 的單曲。

當 Boney M Gold銷售理想﹐得到英國專輯榜第14位後﹐唱片公司再下一城﹐於翌年推出了 Boney M More Gold﹐收錄了15首較次要的精選歌曲﹐另外加上 Ma Baker的新混音版本與及由Liz Mitchell組成的 Boney M灌錄了4首新曲。論吸引力﹐這當然不及 Boney M Gold了﹐可是上一張精選還是遺留了一些歌曲﹐於是筆者自然要掏腰包﹐乖乖付錢了。

同期在錄影製作方面﹐消費者的要求已將價就貨﹐VCD隨之迎運而生﹐代替了較昂貴﹑ 畫質也較佳的 Laser Disc。1994年 BMG為 Boney M發行了一盒兩張的Boney M Gold 20 Super Hits …And More﹐收錄了的 MV 21首﹐可聽可看﹐當然不能錯過了。
