感覺上音樂每五年便有一個區分﹐70年代也不例外﹐前半期還非常時興鄉謠﹑民歌及Pop 一類較單純的音樂﹐然而後半期 Disco音樂把一齊都改變過來﹐樂迷忘形起舞。雖然許多 Disco 音樂的歌星或樂團都只是 One Hit Wonder﹐但是卻帶來百花齊放的局面﹐至於一眾流行歌手或樂團﹐也得順應這股潮流﹐唱唱 Disco 了。

唱作人 Barry Manilow 也不例外﹐他的歌曲頗多元代﹐除了 Pop 之外﹐許多時候也滲入了 Musical 甚至 Classical 的元素﹐至於 Disco呢﹖我就想起了1978年的 Copacabana (At The Copa)。

Barry Manilow 創作的 Copacabana ﹐並不算是一首刻意的 Disco 歌曲﹐因為歌曲內容是講述一個過氣舞孃﹐以前風光的在夜總會表演歌舞﹐可是因為一場槍擊意外﹐她失去愛侶﹐大受打擊﹐以至30年過後﹐音樂已進入 Disco年代﹐可是她的打扮仍維持不變﹐然而已經人老珠黃﹐鬱鬱寡歡地過活﹐令人不禁同情她的遭遇。多年後林憶蓮的“芝加哥的故事”(1994/Stardust) ﹐在取材上便跟它相似。Copacabana (At The Copa) 原屬 1978年電影 Foul Play 的插曲﹐除了收錄在“Foul Play”(1978/Arista) 電影原聲帶專輯中外﹐在 Even Now (1978/Arista) 專輯中也見收錄﹐至於同年的“Manilow Magic/The Best Of Barry Manilow”(1978/Arista) 便收錄了一個較長的 Disco 版本。歌曲於美國 Billboard 得到第8位﹐而英國方面﹐成績較弱﹐只得到第42位。
