早前說過﹐若提起70年代的 Disco音樂﹐筆者必會想起3首歌曲﹐或者因為當年接觸的時候﹐是來自同一盒翻版卡帶的原故吧﹐所以特別深刻﹐它們是 Van McCoy的 The Hustle﹑Silver Convention的 Fly Robin Fly ﹐還有一首便是 KC & The Sunshine Band的 That’s The Way (I Like It)。

三首歌曲除了是我同時期接觸之外﹐也有一個共通點﹐歌詞只得寥寥數字﹐現在聽起來﹐似乎有點Silly﹐不過當時聽﹐實在覺得入型入格﹐不過相隔多年重溫﹐仍然覺得非常搶耳﹐甚至想聞歌起舞。

早期我認識的 KC & The Sunshine Band 就只有 That’s The Way I Like It 而已﹐其後也遂漸把他們淡忘﹐1980年因為一張香港熱門雜錦唱片 CBS/Sony Super Stars Super Hits 而認識到另一首冠軍歌曲 Please Don’t Go﹐這首歌曲當時聽倒不覺甚麼﹐可是生活中經歷了許多之後﹐這首歌就非常觸動心靈。

KC & The Sunshine Band組成於1973年﹐最初的成員只有Richard Finch和 Harry Wayne Casey (KC)﹐ 他們也是合作寫歌的拍擋﹐而 KC則在 TK唱片兼職﹐後來加入了 TK唱片的樂師Jerome Smith﹑Robert Johnson作結他手及鼓手。早期雖然發行了幾張單曲﹐但成續平平﹐其後因為一首Queen of Clubs在英國大為流行﹐所以便在當地展開巡迴演唱。1975年他們終於以Get Down Tonight吐氣揚眉﹐首嗜 Billboard冠軍的滋味。其後的 That’s The Way I Like It更是兩星期冠軍﹐也成為 Disco的經典。1977年他們再有兩首流行榜三甲歌曲I’m Your Boogie Man 及Keep It Comin’ Love﹐最後一首成功歌曲乃是1980年的 Please Don’t Go了。

1980年因著 TK唱片倒閉﹐所以他們加盟了 Epic﹐可惜翌年Richard Finch與 Harry Wayne Casey也告拆夥。1983年 KC & The Sunshine雖然還有一首上榜歌曲 Give It Up﹐但是因著 Disco音樂已走下坡﹐他們的聲勢也不如前。當時 CBS便乘勢把他們在 TK及 Epic時期的歌曲﹐出版精選。然而這張唱片﹐筆者也是多年後以特價購買的。
