踏入2000年﹐舞曲天后再度出招﹐聲言新專輯 Music 會是別開新面的新音樂﹐誓要領導潮流。

首張單曲即為專輯的標題歌曲 Music﹐當時筆者沒有等待美國版 Single﹐但是市面上卻有 CD 1 及 CD 2之分﹐後來經過挑選後選了 Disc 1﹐大概因為它附送了 MV吧。這張 Maxi Single可算是超值﹐因為除了 Album Version外﹐還收錄了6個新混音版本﹐記憶中 Disc 2可能也有收錄其他混音版本的。對於她的樂迷來說﹐要收集齊她的唱片就變得更複雜了﹐但是喜歡聽 Remix的筆者其實也受不了﹐因為要聽完那 CD﹐就是不停的 Music了43分鐘﹐聽完後腦袋也脹死了。

Music單曲可算是來勢凶凶﹐打上 Billboard冠軍達4星期﹐而英國方面也一樣成為冠軍歌。其後唱片公司也為 Music專輯再發了兩張單曲﹐包括Don't Tell Me及 What It Feels Like For A Girl。當時筆者選購美國特別版﹐附有 Bonus Track American Pie。

筆者並不喜歡這張專輯﹐或者編曲方面過於嘈吵吧﹐加上 Music Maxi Single帶來的夢魘﹐本來很喜歡 Music的﹐但都變成了厭惡感。編曲方面用上死板的“洞滋洞滋” 電子拍子﹐只感吵耳﹔使用 Vocoder 這種所謂聲音﹐就令到筆者想起 Stevie Wonder 那 I Just Call To Say I Love You從 70年代用到80年代的過時聲音﹔另外土裡土氣的 Cowgirl形像﹐都一樣帶來“舊”的感覺﹐並未有配合 Madonna帶領潮流的聲言。

其實歌曲水準不差﹐只是不合筆者口味而已﹐多年後在 Confession Tour DVD中再次接觸 Music﹐以 Disco形式演繹﹐實在酷得要命﹐另外發現了 Paradise (Not For Me) 一曲非常感動人﹐原來也是出自 Music專輯﹐可見那編曲實在影響了自己對該張專輯的看法。Music 專輯世界性銷量1300張﹐美國賣了300萬張﹐比 Ray Of Light 專輯略遜。
