Madonna - Beautiful Stranger / American Pie

Ray Of Light 專輯出版後的兩年﹐Madonna 又再次涉足電影界﹐首先於1999年為Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery 主唱了插曲 Beautiful Stranger。當年尚在電影台工作的筆者﹐Beautiful Stranger 便是自己經常策劃播放的MV。歌曲打上英國榜第2位﹐而美國方面並沒有正式推出﹐不過因為電台熱播﹐使到它攀上 Billboard 流行榜第19位。Beautiful Stranger 更得到 2000年 Academy Awards 的Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media 獎項。

踏入 2000年﹐Madonna 夥拍Rupert Everett 主演了電影 The Next Best Thing﹐可惜除了紅了主題曲 American Pie﹐得了些最爛影片獎外﹐並無收獲﹐筆者看完該電影的感覺就只有一個觀後感 - Madonna 已經老了。 Madonna 為 The Next Best Thing 貢獻了兩曲﹐包括 American Pie 及Time Stood Still。American Pie 翻唱自 Don McLean 1971年的金曲﹐並以單曲發行﹐分別在英美得到第2及29位﹐而這個翻唱版本也深得原唱者的讚賞﹐不過卻得到喜歡原曲的樂迷劣評如潮。
