1983年 Madonna推出首張專輯受到歡迎﹐於是很快便於翌年推出第二張專輯 Like A Virgin﹐這時的Madonna可說紅透半邊天﹐發行單曲的 Schedule非常緊密﹐除了要為專輯發行 Singles外﹐也開始拍電影﹐為其他電影主唱插曲。

Like A Virgin專輯全球銷量達1950萬張﹐在英美的 Album Chart 都稱冠﹐並且帶來 4首流行榜10大的單曲﹐製作人方面由金牌製作人 Nile Rodgers操刀。 Nile 是70年代跳舞樂團 Chic 的創團人之一﹐擅於製作高質素的商業歌曲﹐他可說是把 Madonna 推向成功的恩師﹐同期 Diana Ross﹑Power Station﹑David Bowie 及 Duran Duran 都邀請他擔任製作人。

Like A Virgin 於第一屆 MTV Music Awards (1984) 首度現場演出﹐留意一下當時的 Madonna 唱功尚非常幼嫰。



Like A Virgin出版後﹐很快便引來Weird Al Yankovic改編為爆笑歌曲﹐收錄於Dare To Be Stupid (1985/Scotti Brothers) 專輯中。

專輯共收錄了9首歌曲﹐其後英國版追收了1985年電影Desperately Seeking Susan 主題曲 Into The Groove ﹐香港版也在第二版跟隨。至於筆者要到20年後才擁有及欣賞到這張專輯﹐因為當時聽的都是12” Single的 Remix Version﹐對專輯的 Album Version 不感興趣﹐不過因為單曲的背面都會收錄 B Side歌曲﹐於是也認識到Shoo-Bee-Doo及 Pretender ﹐兩者雖然不是主打歌﹐但筆者都非常喜歡。
